Now that I've finally played Castles of Burgundy, I completely understand why you've had it this long. It's such a satisfying and tight game, definitely a "forever" game in my collection!

Great collection of games! I have several of these still in my collection. My Dominion is in an artist case with the Broken Token Insert but that One Sharp Joe option looks amazing!

In addition to Vaccarino you do have another double designer… Bruno Cathala (Five Tribes / Cyclades). Great longevity for those amazing games :)

Hey Alex, could you do a video going through the games behind you? I barely hear you talk about some of them and am interested on your thoughts

Would also like a video, or at least an explanation why they are there

Laugh out loud😃 your dominion collection looks like my marvel United collection. I have a fancy wooden card box for them about that size. I have another one for shadows of brimstone. But that’s before adventures, that I’ll be unboxing and sleeving this weekend. Shadows of brimstone will be getting to the table soon. And staying for the rest of the year on the table.

A game we sold and then got back is Race for the Galaxy. It was one of the first games in our collection

Cool video, it’s nice to see which games have stood the test of time. (BTW - the gods didn’t steal the fire, Prometheus stole it from the gods ;)

I first played Innovation many years ago through a friend and finally got my own copy maybe a couple years ago as I started to build up my own collection. I only started playing it again this year, but I'm glad that I picked it up cos I do very much enjoy it. Dixit was one of my first games back in the day. I can't remember when I got it, or where I first played it - but it was probably through the same aforementioned friend. It's been a fun to play with friends who don't consider themselves fans of board games. And I describe the cards as whimsical paintings. Another friend that I play with weekly picked up Kemet: Blood and Sand last year. We don't play it often, but I am a fan. The combat system feels pretty unique, and building up a different combo of powers each time is fun for me. And I was introduced to Yinsh just last week by a buddy in a weekly Root group. We'll sometimes play something short after a game or two of Root. Anyway, Yinsh was kind of tricky to wrap my brain around, but the game play felt novel, so it kept me engaged, and I even managed to win on that first play.

Some old games I still love and find easy to table are Catan, Dixit, Caylus, Archipelago, Lords of Waterdeep, Revolution, Puerto Rico, and Caverna...

I love coming across older games. Lately I've been looking to add such gems to my own collection to play.

Days of Wonder games, that are not expansions or remakes, released since Five Tribes: Quadropolis, Yamatai, The River, Corinth, Deep Blue, Heat. You aren't wrong, other than forgetting Heat. Days of Wonder really lives off their evergreen games and expansions to them.

My oldest games that have stuck around are Smallworld, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Colt Express, the Ancient world, mission red planet just to name the ones off the top of my head. Most of them I don't play as often, but still love when I get to play them.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Acquire, Pandemic, Race for the Galaxy, and Manhattan Project. I've had Acquire since 1975, Pandemic and Race for the Galaxy since 2008, and Manhattan project since 2012.

Nice video. I still have Alpha Omega that I brought in 1980. I think the game was made in 1968 and is an ild space campaign game with so many counters. The scenarios are innovative and I still pull it out sometime.

Catan, Carcassonne, Lords of Waterdeep, Tikal, and Game of Thrones are the five oldest games I have. Tikal was a gift from my mom, so it will never leave (I also love it despite AP issues). Catan and Carcassonne I haven't played in a decade, but they're still there because they're classics and inspire fond memories when I see them. =) Game of Thrones I only played once, but it ran long so haven't touched it since. I don't actually remember if I liked it lol. I should probably get rid of it. Lords of Waterdeep + Skullport is still a great experience, and the straightforward scoring mechanism makes it easy for newer players to pick up (whereas something like Stone Age's scoring system is more obscure).

Settlers of Catan, Risk, Monopoly, UNO, Skip-Bo, Rook, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Clue are the absolute oldest. Seriously still here, and they get played. We also have Dominion and 7 Wonders as the next group. Castle of Burgandy, Kemet and Dixit all came in the last few years.

I'd love to see a full video dedicated to what are the top 10 games (with 7 honorable mentions, naturally) that you think will still be in your collection 10 years from now. I know you sort of were talking about that at the end of this video, but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts in a fuller format.

Some oldies I still have that I love are Carcassonne, Dominion, Claustrophobia, Zombies!!!, and Kismet. No one will play Zombies!!! with me but I don’t have the heart to get rid of it 😅

I haven't played any of these. However many of my favorite games are older. Not much of a purger but these would be my oldest 3. Carcassonne, i do play with most of the expansions yearly love it and one of my first games. Nightmare, got it at a goodwill fell in love and play it and its expansions all of oct. Dead of winter would be number 3, it was my first complex board game, love the story telling and epic momments that have happened. Honorable mentions for 4, 5 would be Clue and Kill Dr Lucky. I know these seam simple by todays standards but the are easy to teach, accessible, and i still have a great time playing them. Many newer more complex games are in my collection...but these will always make it to the table every year multiple times.

I played a lot of the "7 Wonders" 2-player variant also. It wasn't as bad as people said. My oldest games: "Citadels" & "Saint Petersburg" (purchased in 2007). I just sold my oldest hobby game: "San Juan" (2006), which I played well over 100 times.

I'd say the "free city" -variant of the original 7 Wonders is superior to 7W:Duel, but I know I'm in the deep minority. I really can't see why the 2p-variant is so hated and bashed, I think it works excelently and adds layers to normal 7W.

My 2 oldest games are Acquire (I've had this for almost 40 years) and Supremacy. Unfortunately, my kids lost half of the money for Supremacy. I keep it for nostalgia.

if only you hadn't ditched your copy of Acquire. But wait, I thought you were on board that Crokinole was a board game and not a sport? I haven't really purged games yet (other than the game collection I grew up with was split with my brother and he ditched his games during a move where he ran out of room on the truck and dumpster'd them). For those keeping track, there is one less SPI War of the Ring (3 game version), War at Sea, and Magic Realm left in the world... Sigh. RIP.
