Just a quick thought on AI art. If you're an independent publisher you might struggle finding the right artist for the job immediately so you start off the Kickstarter with open-source images or craft your own rather quickly through some commands. However, when a game turns out to be a hit, and one of the consistent critiques is the use of lackluster, unintuitive art, that publisher would do well to invest in actual human artists and help people pay their bills, as a form of socio-economic ethics. There is no excuse that there wouldn't be artists around the world with a passion for drawing space crafts and futuristic environments. Besides, the visual art of a game is married to the theming and the mechanics, and usually adds to the excitement. Could anyone imagine any Game of Thrones board game with a Pokémon art style? Perhaps, but it doesn't convey the dark grittiness of the setting like the tv series and the books. I think of Stonemaier games who hired very specific artists for games like Scythe and Wingspan, and for me they are a large part of why I enjoy bringing the game to the table. Because it's pretty to look out, gives you something to do in your downtime ;)

I think you should capitalize on making something similar for Puerto Rico as the new campaign is coming closer. This could be a good way to cover more «older» games that still hold up. Agricola, Carcassone. Modern classics.

Yay! Great new series and sooooooo well done! This is one of my favorite games, but they missed an important con that could be a deal breaker for some kinds of players. The game has minimal player interaction on the board. Yes, there are some card effects that thwart others and you can cut someone off in a goal. But for the most part, its a race. Combined with long player turns, some might find the wait between turns cumbersome. This lack of interaction is often a turn off for me, but this game is so strategic and is such an incredible engine builder that I love it. Still, the long turns/little interaction combination is likely to be the biggest obstacle for some gamers.

Actually it has a lot of player interaction for a Euro game. Direct: Negative Effects, Drafting (the only way to play the game), Area Control Subtle: Race for TR bonuses & Milestones/ Awards (the choice to use one or two actions every turn makes a huge difference in crucial times) So in order to win, you have to watch what your opponents are doing.

I dislike Terraforming Mars ... but maybe that's because I only played it once with veteran players of it and did not know what I should do. I did not end up making that much stuff on Mars and thus did not have that feeling of helping Mars become habitable 😃 I turned to the video game of it and thanks to someone who explained that cards should be rated according to points they'd give per M$ spent, I managed to score some wins on the app. I'm still meh on it though 😛 My takeaway is, first time play it with most of the other players knowing the game as much as you do

This was an enjoyable video! Thank you! 🤩 Just days ago, I played the digital TM tutorial on my computer. I am curious about this board game because I would like to take a next step in my board gaming. But I have to say, the art doesn't look good at all. 😅I don't know if AI can save it... If it is so successful, why not pay graphic designers to come up with something that is nice too look at for hours on end?! 🤯😓

I know this will be debated for years, but I’m still team TM. I feel the card draw less punishing, and the presence of an actual shared board is a space for actual interaction. I still play Ark Nova but definitely only on BGA.

I prefer TM just a little bit more as the engine building is more satisfying, but Ark Nova is right there for me. /JT
