This album makes me wonder how Jack White would describe The Money Store in 4 words.

I was lucky enough to see the Boarding Reach House Tour and it blew me away. White was on his ‘no cell phones allowed’ shit and the crowd seemed more involved. My 16 y/o self was blown away. Core memory formation

One if not my favorite Jack White related project. Couldn’t stop spinning this record once I took home a copy from the record shop I worked at at the tiMe. Edit: also Ive always found the lack of cohesion, is what makes this album cohesive.

Cool video! I love this album too! I like Jacks first two soloalbums as well, but by the time Lazaretto came out I was a little tired of his more country/folk sounding songs. I've been a fan since I was a kid when White Stripes were still around and when Lazaretto came out I felt a small hint of disappointment for the first time. So when this came out I was so relieved and totally mindblown. The fresh and crazy energy of songs like Corporation, Ice station zebra and Over and over and over was so satisfying and refreshing for me as a long time fan. And I was moved that he did something so unexpected and experimental. And I love that it's not just weird for the sake of being weird; it has a lot of substance too. Like emotional, strong delivery, cool lyrics, nice production, creative arrangements and so on. And i actually think it has a cool kind of cohesiveness and an overall vibe. Personally i think his new album Fear of the dawn is even better. Feels like he has perfected his more experimental route and really is on a roll with it.

You're going to understand the album more if you ever heard Todd Rundrend's A Wizard A True Star from 1973 I think.

I grew up with white stripes and with that I grew out of white stripes. Straight blues rock got boring and my existential dread wanted to be deep in a SWANS, Xiu Xiu, Goblin, Fire!, Have a nice life k-hole. So when this album dropped I was long off the JW train, gave it a listen and was like, yea, I mean his trying I appreciate that but I'm bored. But you've inspired me to give it annother crack. Maybe JW still has something to offer me and I was just in a different place when this album dropped.

The best stuff he's done was way weirder than this and its in The Dead Weather's records. Can anyone else care about this band and forget about the White Stripes?
