Boarding Oasis of the Seas | Group Cruise | Bahamas

Well we're at it again and back on one of our favorite ships, Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. This was our second group cruise out of the Bayonne, New Jersey terminal at Cape Liberty. Nothing better than sailing away with a view of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Join us as we sail away from New Jersey, travel under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, and head down to the Bahamas. Thank you for the feedback. We still didn’t post the description - we were in a rush today and Julie and Brian take different responsibilities each. He’s working on it now so he’ll do that. We have another Boarding Oasis video from last year and Bayonne was part of the title. I almost did the same this time but wanted to make the titles different. @HowWeCruise we had a tremendous cruise! Coco Kay really was a perfect day. We had an excursion at Port Canaveral to Kennedy Space Center where it stormed the entire time but we made the most of that excursion. I'll be sad to get off the ship tomorrow, and we aren't sure when exactly we are gonna cruise again.

Wait.. when you all were walking after parking so far away.. I did not see anyone with a bigger luggage? Did you all just pack back packs?

I don't think I could ever get Julie to pack in just a backpack. lol. A cool feature about the set up of Bayonne, and most but not all ports for that matter, is when driving, there is often an area where you can drop your luggage first and then go park your car. The entrance in Bayonne forces everyone through that area anyway so its super easy to drop the heavy bags first, tip your porters, and head out to the parking lot. Great question! -Brian

Yes. 23rd. We always get to Bayonne when the parking lot opens at 9:30. We got rained on, but got right on the ship.

Hi! How long was the boarding process from start to finish? We cruise October 1 from Bayonne and we do have a child with autism. I’m just wondering how the process is as this is our first time cruising.

It depends on the cruise and the day. We have gotten through Bayonne quickly each time - especially if we have an early boarding time. I am an OT and work with individuals with autism and their families so I understand where you’re coming from. Royal is very accommodating (the most of all the lines). Let them know of your needs. Send me a PM in Facebook messenger or email and I’m happy to elaborate. If you used a TA, have them let the cruise line know you have special needs. If you booked yourself you can call Royal and let them know too. But have a GREAT cruise! I hope you all love it! (To answer the question - we parked around 10:30 - through security by 10:50 - and on the ship by 10:55. Straight to muster drill by 11:05 - and we’re having hot dogs and a drink on the boardwalk by 11:30). Hope that helps!

Is the oisis a fun ship I wanted to do the icon but it was to much money so agent suggested the oisis is it fun I mean it looks fun

Absolutely!! Oasis (or any Oasis Class Ship including Harmony, Symphony, Allure, Wonder, and soon coming Utopia) are all really awesome ships!! Icon is a new class of its own. We can't speak to what it will be yet. But maybe way to see if prices settle or future deals await for Icon.... we HIGHLY recommend any Oasis class ship in the meantime. You'll have a great time. Are there formal nights on oasis? Do people were tuxedos?

Great question. Oasis does have 2 nights that are "formal nights" on a 7 night itinerary - usually nights 2 and 6. 5 night itineraries typically have 1 formal night. Formal attire is completely optional. You will see some people dressed to impress in their stunningly best! Other's will opt to remain as casual as can be. Both are accepted and completely fine. The How We Cruise crew typically dresses up for formal nights, but a suit and cocktail dress are typical. You will see some tuxedos - but not as many as there used to be years ago. I'm working on our video from day 2 now which was a formal night. It will be posted soon! Its free to subscribe (if you haven't already) and turn on notifications so you wont miss it when its uploaded. I hope this helps! - Julie

Were they checking people's check in times when you arrived??

So long as there is no line, they will not check in Bayonne. If it starts to back up, they will ask for your time. -Brian

They didn’t check ours that morning. We showed up at 10:40 and walked right in with an 11:00 and 11:30 check in times. -Julie

Yay!! It’ll be here fast! Are you hiding ducks? The water park can be crazy expensive. It’s fun, but honestly Coco Cay is so amazing it’s not necessary.
