I've already done a live recreation of ROYGBIV, but after coming across the "Lake!" sample from Sesame Street, I thought i'd take a stab at making a recreation that was more accurate. After hearing the Sesame Street episode that the "Lake!" sample came from, I had a hunch that the little melodic trill used in ROYGBIV was taken from the same episode. After tons of sample searching, playing around and tweaking, I think I found and recreated the exact little melodic "trill" sample used in ROYGBIV as well. This time I decided to do something a little different and share the Ableton project instead of me playing the parts live. I solo all the individual tracks first, show how I recreated the "melodic trill" from the Sesame Street sample, and then play the entire project. Nothing from the original BOC track was sampled or reused, only the original sesame street samples that they themselves used. Hope you enjoy!

This is another phenomenal remake from you! I would have never guessed that both the trill and the child’s voice were sampled from Sesame Street (also blowing my mind that the voice is saying “Lake” instead of “Yeah”). Brilliant find!

Amazing! I love how you’ve uncovered so many truths: the true art of subtle sampling is maybe the greatest contribution to post 70’s music. And that a band who everyone assumed was so organic and analog have digital components make up they’re greatest sounds (eg, S1000 and AN1X). Thanks so much for bringing some clarity to how these magicians create.
