These breeds possess the flat face, pushed-up 👃, narrow nostrils, & large 👀 .
Unfortunately, because of this peculiar anatomy, brachycephalic dogs often have a hard time 💨 breathing & have respiratory 🫁 abnormalities.
This condition is known as brachycephalic syndrome & it is characterized by☝️ or more of the following:
An elongated soft palate
Stenotic nares
Everted Laryngeal Saccules
A narrow trachea
Ever notice that Bulldogs do a lot of 💤 snorting? That’s probably due to an elongated soft palate.
The soft palate is the soft part at the back of the roof of the mouth that separates the nasal passages from the mouth. In brachcephalic breeds, the soft palate extends into the throat & can block the trachea/windpipe.
Lots of barking & panting causes the tissues to swell which leads to breathing problems & respiratory distress. To help correct this problem the elongated soft palate is surgically corrected.
Stenotic nares is the term referring to narrowing of the nostrils. This limits the airflow, making breathing through the nose difficult. This is the Result of Horrible People. Horrible horrible horrible people breeding these dogs. Humans have caused the suffering of these dogs . I wonder how they would feel if they had to Actually TRY to breathe instead of just Naturally doing it . Whoever’s reading this comment I want you to try to imagine in your imagination if you had to Force yourself and Try hard to breathe . Imagine if breathing took effort actually trying to breathe . It’s hard to put it in describable words. The best I can say is. Forcing yourself to Breathe in. Smokers experience this after Years and years and years of smoking . They have to actually TRY to breathe they have to force themselves to breathe it’s a very uncomfortable thing to do . We are gifted with Effortless breathing but imagine using all your effort just to breathe in . That’s what these dogs feel . They have to Force themselves to Breathe in . Hard to explain !

Couldn't agree more. This craze for brachycephallic breeds needs to stop. It's plain animal cruelty and a tragedy at this point. Not only they have a hard time breathing, which is the single most important thing you need to be able to stay alive (most owners doesn't seem to notice that). Many of them have heart diseases and pulmonary edema since they have to work harder to get some air. They also have lots of problems related with eyes, allergies, joints, bones, IVDD, etc. as a result of inbreeding and overbreeding. Jeez, most of these dogs can't even procreate without human intervention (artificial insemination) and can't deliver puppies without a C-section. How disgusting is that? I'm sorry but as an animal lover I think people has lost their minds. And don't get me started with "ethical breeders". There's no such thing as ethical french bulldogs / pugs / english bulldogs breeders.

😂😂😂😂 loads of you have asthma and even more have hay fever meaning they can’t breathe either and pass that onto their kids. Cancer heart disease etc all inherited from family so before you slate animals take a look in the mirror and our species as a whole we are the most unhealthiest creatures on the planet and openly breed problems into each other it’s why medicine is at an all time higher for profits more sick people more money 💵 so sort your own crappy lives out before slating animals you bunch of losers, sometimes you can’t even control it if you knew science you’d know mutations can happen that are no one’s fault. Dog ain’t even that bad matey just want the money from surgery vets are the worst for grabbing any and every penny you have over Literally nothing.

My dog is slowly dying with this and I can not afford the thousands that it costs to have the surgery. I"m thinking of putting her to sleep since she's suffering so much. She can't rest at night.

@@freshmantle1876 My daughter died of breast cancer, 30 yrs old, Jan 2019, this dog was her rescued and trained, service dog. Of course, I had to adopt her. I never thought I'd have another pet, but there I was. For 5 yrs Bella thrived with me and could run like the wind but, I had to put her down last Oct. Friday the 13th, ffs. I had no choice, she could no longer breathe. My two, poor little girls. I've been crying every day ever since then. Little Bella was a link to my daughter and she helped keep the sadness away but with her gone too now, I never stop crying. Every day, every morning when I wake up, every night when I go to sleep. Anything can trigger it. I was never a crier and I thought something was wrong with me but I was wrong because now it never stops. I guess my heart was never broken until now. I'm not silly, maybe you shouldn't be so quick to assume.
