It's taken me about ten days to watch E1 and reach 45. This is by far the best presentation by a long shot. Well done! Your explanatory voice-overs during the stop motion sequences is the way to go. They were so informative and they give you a chance to express yourself. I feel that less mid video selfies and more voice-over stop motion will attract a much larger audience. We're all here to see a guy build a boat, but your short intro's with the "family", the farm and the wildlife must be of great interest to all our international friends. Well done and very informative.

Hello and welcome. Thanks so much for your kind comments. It was never my intention to make a tutorial boat building video. I just wanted to make a bit of a record for myself and family of the venture and generally as a bit of fun. I have been really pleasantly surprised at just how many people are following along and seem to be enjoying the process. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Take care, Steve and Maple

Great progress as always! I used to have a similar wall paper remover/steamer. It was completely useless to remove wall papers with, it just dropped hot water all along the wall and into the floor tiles/planks, without the wall paper loosening a bit.
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Hahaha well at least it works well for steaming the wood. Cheers, Steve and Maple

Outstanding build Steve, she looks solid and sits well on the water, most unusual name Mundoo.
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Yep, that little boat was called 'Gargoyle' because she wasn't the prettiest, LOL but new owners somewhere along the way change the name to 'Mundoo' which is the name of a shallow channel that leads into our Coorong national park waterway. Duck Flat Wooden Boats also had a version of Bolger's Tennessee called the Mundoo.

Lots of ocean crossing ships have flat bottoms. They round the edges an ends foe efficiency, but the bottom is flat. Its a fairly stable hull shape.
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Yep, absolutely correct. Providing the weight is evenly distributed and down low they are quite stable. Nice to hear from you, thanks. Steve and Maple

Glad to see you back, Steve! Hope y’all are all doing well. Man, you have made a lot of detailed progress, beginning to look very comfortable. I was wondering, will you be bringing Marvelous Maple on the show anytime? How old is she? Thanks for uploading the video, it’s always great to see how you are coming along. Take care, my friend, be looking forward to your next video. 🤙

Watching and liking what I see, we have a 60foot x 9foot wide beam, and it has loads of weight below the water line, looking forward to seeing how it proceeds
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Hello again Peter, I would love to see your wide beam. Sounds wonderful. As I said before, there will be plenty of weight down low and the ability to add ballast along the centre if required. Here is a link to the 33' flat bottom boat I designed and built over 20 years ago. She has changed colour and name, but other than that looks like the day I launched her. www.boatsonline.com.au/boats-for-sale/used/house-boats/custom-mundoo-style-river-cruiser/308264 She had no ballast, but did have a 10" hardwood heavy keel running full length.

There are "fiber" pins that can be used in a pin gun - they (apparantly) hold very well and can be cut and sanded without hurting blades. This means they can be used in lots of places where a stainless pin might cause issues. Perhaps something to consider!
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for that. They sound great. I will definitely check them out. Cheers, Steve and Maple

Yes, serious indeed Anne. Maybe you could tell everyone to watch and subscribe. :) Nice to hear from you Anne. PS How are the fingers? Are you managing any guitar picking?
@peterskidmore56188 ай бұрын
You will need a large amount of weight below the waterline as British narrow boats.
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Hello Peter, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Much appreciated. Yep, the bulk of the weight is down low and if I require more there is the ability to add extra ballast as required. Take care,, cheers, Steve and Maple

Hahaha well firstly when we wake up in the morning and you have a new video we hear the words “hello boat lovers” and it gets us down to our shed! And hats off to anyone building a boat and even better another Australian! We also pick up a few nice tips and tricks. Also your a fellow dog lover, so immediate respect haha

Steve I still think that your boat will flip over and sink heh... Remember it's not a model, have plenty of life jackets on board.. Nice boat though. Oh any Crocodiles in the river..
@steveshierdoesstuff74208 ай бұрын
Don't worry, I'll be wearing my floaties. (and I'm too old for crocodile bait) If the boat sinks and I get eaten, it will make a great video. Mind you the crocodiles will have to come a few thousand miles down from northern Australia first. :)Thanks for watching.

I like watching your channel but i have a little problem. I like billiards and if that pool table is not useable i might have to unsubscribe. Just trolling i what to see you finish this boat. It is sad to see a nice table being short stick against a wall. Please don't block me.

Hilarious! Don't worry, the pictures are deceptive. There is plenty of room around the billiard table and it certainly gets a lot of use. Will I block you? Of course not! hehehe Steve and Maple
