Great video, Do you know why the Pilgrim crash into the bank, do you know if they got it off? I slip next to a pilgrim 43 very nice boat. Your killing this trip and the video editing is top notch
@InTooDeepBro2 жыл бұрын
They did get it off, and there was no damage! I should have added that update into the video. The captain told us that he dropped his phone and when he looked up he was headed straight for the bank. Fortunately everybody and the boat was okay!

I was up in Corning for Thanksgiving at my sons house , (Circa 1896) , I spent all my life crusing on Chesapeake Bay, now live in Lewes, DE on Delaware Bay. When he moved up there I had to rethink my cruising grounds. I saw that Pilgrim at Saint Michaels last October. Nice older couple, said the boat was very comfortable. I drooled over it ! Will be up for the next canal festival, meantime I'm practicing my canal chanty's.

Hey Brother, I have been watching your show since wanting to restore my own boat. You have been inspiring. Anyway, part of what inspired me to buy a boat was having to watch all of these beautiful boats go by while hanging off of the rock at Moss Island ( Lock 17). I've been climbing here for 20 years. Keep up the great videos. If you decide to do the loop, I'll get you on the rock and we can go to the Erie Canal Museum. - Cheers

I heard on your Florida to Maine videos that you had done the Erie Canal, so I had to check this out as I live in the Utica area. My wife works across the street from Lock 20 so I watch boats come and go all the time when I stop by. I work only a couple miles from that dock in Rome. Little Falls area is absolutly gorgeous. I'm always wanting to be on the water when I drive by it. BTW... Rome is a high point in the Canal system and where Clinton started digging the Erie canal as it was an old portage from the Mohawk River to the Wood River, connecting Albany and the Hudson valley to the Great Lakes basin.

I own a 1996 Albin 32+2. Not much different from the 1997 32+2. The 97 has extended hull under the platform & more HP. Single 370 Cummins vs a 315HP in the 96. Fantastic boat for the cruising couple. Dead easy to single hand also. Know something about the Pilgrim also. Most likely around a 1986 build powered by a single Westerbeke W100 6 cyl, naturally aspirated. Great motor. Had one in a 1986 Albin 27. The Pilgrim has a draft of only 2' 6" making it one great coastal cruiser.

7:45 something even crazier…. I live in Buffalo New York and have my hole life. We were floating in the outer Buffalo Harbor at about 1am we watched this 40 Sundancer come flying out the inner harbor on plane had to be doing 35 if not more. Watching the light go across the outer harbor as if they were already on the open lake. Kept watching thinking the lights were going to slow down and never did. Went from full speed to dead stop in the snap of a finger. 2 seconds later you hear this ungodly crack crashing sound. This group of drunk people came flying out the inner harbor full speed right into the brake wall. Idk forgot it was there or something. I was on my 21 foot Maxum Sport so I hammered down towards them. Got there and they were just about coming to. Dazed, confused, trying to take in what just happened. One person was almost on the bow. Like half on the bow half on the dash. They wanted to abandon ship. Wanted to just hop on my boat and this other fishing boat that pulled up but. I pretty much said “what are you nuts” have you checked if you were taken on water. Have you accessed the damage…. They were taken on fast. Got them to get the bilge pump on tossed them a line pulled them off the wall. Flexed all 200 plus HP of my Sport to get it off the wall to with a 21 pitch on the out drive. Got them to the inner harbor. Then they were going to abandon ship there at the dock. So again I’m like what are you nuts.. do you have a trailer truck or anything??!! Found out trailer was up river got them to get the trailer. We pretty much beached the boat at the ramp. The trailer got to the ramps and we were able to get it on the trailer witch was a lot harder than what it sounds like right here and now. Took 3 trucks to pull that boat out the water.... There was gashes all down the side of the boat. Big hole in the front and a huge hole in the back. Could have fit a 12 pack through the hole in the back. lol dude gave me $100 bucks for getting his boat out the water and helping them. All with out the cops being involved to. I wish I was able to get some pictures but this was way before camera phones. It was the age of disposable cameras lol.

Just so you know. I've lived in the Mohawk Valley most of my life. We don't call it the Erie Canal. We call it what it is, the MOHAWK RIVER. And just so you know, the river is shut down mainly because it freezes over in the winter. They all use the locks for flood control.
