i know you've been long sailed away and i'm just keeping up with videos, but if anyone interested, about grocery stores and their own brand stuff in Turkey (like tuna cans, coffee etc branded with Migros and Carrefour) are usually made by those brands of which they sell their own products at same store. if you look at the back gibberish side of those products you'll most likely see, for example tuna cans, statement of for example 'made by Dardanel for brand of Migros' in Turkish etc. Dardanel is premium for that product and quality of Migros brand would be like at least 3/4 of that quality with maybe less than half price of that product, just a thing to consider. always check the who actually makes the product that you get for store branded things here. i hope you enjoyed your time here in Turkey

Heya, oh that’s a great tip! Thankyou, we’ll have to let our friends know that are sailing there ☺️ cheers

Great work I was looking at all you’ve got and in Vic that would be more like $800 atm, meat alone would be over $200, can’t wait to do it☺️

That’s crazy isn’t it! Europe has def gone up Lately too but no where near Australia. And turkey is certainly cheap by Aussie standards. I think we plan to do another stock up in albania as it’s also cheap there 🤞🏼

Simplify everything. You do not need deodorant or shampoo. Use dishwashing soap for everything (cheap and lathers best with saltwater) - laundry, washing hair/body... Learn to cook using half seawater and sweet water to save water and salt... Those baby wipes come in the three packs both in TR and GR and are great for saving water and doing boat work.
@LeadingtheEscapade2 жыл бұрын
Hahah coming from a retired hairdresser here, don’t think I could give up my shampoo 🙈 dishwashing detergent is extremely bad for your hair and for a female with long hair it would feel pretty terrible as it strips all the oils out of your skin and hair but I’m sure it would be fine for guys with short hair 🙈 totally agree with the baby wipes, probably not the most eco friendly but handy for cleaning/spills and boat jobs for sure! 😆

Your right, can not see a woman with long hair using dishsoap. Would be a frazzle nightmare. Cheers and fair winds.

Pomegranate molasses is good on cheese the same way you would do balsamic vinegar on cheese in Italy. Fig molasses the same. I forgot to mention an episode or 2 ago …. Turkey cherries are the best AND they do a thing where they leave pit in cherries and dry the cheery maybe half way ( best way to describe it )as compared to pitted very dried cherries you buy like raisins. The half dried cherries are usually sold in fresh section like figs.
@LeadingtheEscapade2 жыл бұрын
Hey Thomas! Yum I’ll have to try that! I love balsamic glaze but I do find pomegranate molasses a lot denote sour and sweet and have mostly enjoyed it in a drink actually with a bit of soda water, sugar syrup and vodka 😂 I’ve had fig molasses in Australia actually! Ahhh interesting, I noticed they have cherry juice in turkey which I liked but never tried the cherries 🍒

Just a tip garlic cloves don't keep vacuum sealing! I did it a few weeks ago and 2 weeks later the bag was blown up like a balloon full of gas! I threw 1kg of garlic in the bin
@LeadingtheEscapade2 жыл бұрын
Oh no!!! Luckily we didn’t try that one. But we did make pickled eggs which turned out great but decided to add more eggs like a week later to the same liquid and that also didn’t work and they all went rotten 😂Jason took a bite of one before he realised 😳🤢 , I knew it didn’t look right just by looking at the jar 😂

I’ll be honest. I just watched this so I am turning down the volume and letting it run through! I just want to see how Turkey and Greece handle the COVID diagnosis.

That much food on board now there’s no reason to catch fish or brew beer 🙃 cheapest n not a bad drop is in Spain at ‘Mercadona’ (supermarket) 70 cents a litre 🤗

@@mallowe9162 😂😂😂 love it! We don’t have one yet as we’ve been waiting to get the ship’s radio license which is proving to be a pain as we now have to send the original boat rego paper to Poland which is in Austria 😒 to be honest we’ve buried our head in the sand with that one even though we’ve already paid the agent for it

Good on you two! Great prices on the groceries! Some things in the States have more than doubled in price in the last 2 months. So funny about the chocolate😝! I guess NEVER get between a woman and the thing she craves, huh?🙄 I started watching a channel (because they have an 82 foot, 50 yr old boat). It's taking them over 2 mo., to get their radio license. They can't leave even the mooring to go to a safe harbor..... and their boat is getting bashed with every storm.
@LeadingtheEscapade2 жыл бұрын
Hey Earl, Thankyou! Yeah definitely a smart place to stock up, it’s definitely not cheap in Greece either that’s for sure. Crazy that it’s gone up that much in the US 😲 hahah can confirm all the chocolate is already gone 😂although the episode is about 2 months behind real time Oh wow! So why can’t they head into a harbour? We still use our VHF and have never actually been asked for the licence but it just means we technically don’t have our own MMSI number I believe. But also have been able to get away with not giving that info anyway

get rid of the paper on the tins because cockroaches like to lay eggs under it
@LeadingtheEscapade2 жыл бұрын
Hey John, thanks for the tip. Most of the tins we bought were printed right on the metal but we have heard that before. I believe it’s more of a problem in Asia and tropical places so we’ll definitely do that in the future anyway 😁
