A cheap boat ramp build using cull pressure treated lumber, and scrounged parts and pieces from barbecues, bikes and repurposed water bottles.

What isn't mentioned is the width of your boat ramp. I have a 29.5' Wood Boat (Bangka) that takes 10- to 12-people to pick it up (grasping the outriggers) and place it above the high tide mark. Thus, I would also like to construct what you did for my Bangka here in the Philippines (and I am not a Filipino either, as I am a retired U.S. Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran that loves to fish). Can you provide the width of the boat ramp that you constructed? I should be able to find pressure treated lumber here and hope that I can also find the wheels (as you showed in your video). Hope to hear back from yourself.

Hello Paul, The runners are place 24" apart which works well with our flat bottom Jon boat. That Bangka has a deep v hull which might mean you'd require a pivoting roller or need to be exact with your spacing. The above design has tendency to sink in the sand even without it being weighted. We live on lake Erie and can have some serious storms which means much of sand is displaced and the ramp sinks. If your ramps on rock or you create some sort of anchor(pile) for the ramp that could solve the issue I had. Which isn't an option for me here because of winter damage do to the formation of ice. Not an issue in the Phillippines I'm sure. Another thing I have considered using are corrugated big "O" pipe as rollers. I've toyed with the idea of cutting 5' pieces and stringing them together in parallel to each other but perpendicular to the boat kinda like a mat of rollers using air plane cable like stitching running through the whole in the "O" and allowing it to rotate. Just haven't had the time to experiment with it as of yet.

Boat ramps aren't available here in Indonesia, at least not in Bali and I'm willing to bet not in the rest of the country as well. So I'm also scratching my head about how to get my boat out of the water by myself as I prefer to fish alone. Of course it's not very hard to get some help if anyone is around as that's how the local fishermen get their traditional boats launched from the beaches but being an American expat you know how it is, namely you just want to be independent. This link might be something to think about if all you need to do is get your boat above the high water mark on the beach. Seems to me a tilting carriage that you can drive up on then a winch connected to a land based structure would be more practical for a small boat in the 200 to 700 lbs range. It's definitely a head scratcher if you want to manage it alone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2WpqHSffKZpnaM

Well not to mention they can be darn cheap at harbor freight. I got some 50 wheels a while back for I think 50c a piece.

Ha Yeah. The "E" is there however small and never received polishing. It's not my sign by the way. It's a German fellow by the name Adolf who shares the same birthday as Hitler. The Nazi doctor who delivered him insisted on naming him after the Fuhrer. His intended name was Garheart. Nice fellow actually.
