Boat Rescue From The Sea Floor - Koh Tao Divers

The Koh Tao Divers boat sank 18 miles away from Koh Tao on its way back from the mainland. On 20th April 2013 nine divers went on a mission to bring the boat back to the surface.

Sorry for the late replies! The boat was at 42 meters, I think it sank because after it was repaired in Chumphon they left a small hole in the hull and it sank on the way back (not entirely sure if thats correct). Nobody was hurt! We wanted to film it being raised but when we went to attach the ropes and barrels the fishing boat that was supposed to lift it didn't turn up so we went back to Koh Tao and they lifted it the next day!

To attach 200 Lt barrels. 2 bungs one end. In one out the other.....save all that tying. “Plan the dive Dive the plan”. Congratulations on the recovery. I’ve lifted 145.. here in Ireland.

How long was the boat? I’m looking at raising a 45 snow crab boat in about 60 feet of water. Boat horses at 45 tonne. In the planning stage now. Curious. Did you flood your barrels to sink them then reinflate to raise the boat. I’m considering doing the same thing. I’m worried about excess pressure as the boat rises and pressure diminishes. I’d rather not have the boat breach.

How long did it take to get it all strapped up? I imagine it had to be a full deco dive given the depth?
