always loved the Clovelly Herring especially the soft roe, in the 70s we used to come down from Bideford for a lobster meal, and it was a Perham who had the little restaurant , later on Viv Foster got us our entry into Cape Breton Canada beautiful memories. 🙏♥

Best fish you can eat, even with the bones, which you don’t really notice when eaten with bread or tatties!

what a lovely fishing village with a great heritage. Im on holiday near the village in a couple of weeks so hopefully might catch you netting. Herring in oats with lemon sounds great, cant wait to try it. Whats the beach fishing like between the village and bucks mills?

people fish off the harbour bucks mills at low tide, also clovelly, westward ho etc. ask the fishermen you see there about the local marks -or try a boat trip one of the charters see the boat trips page on our website --boatstories.co.uk-- - the harbour master Stephen (from the film) does boat trips around clovelly harbour - its crab and lobster season at the moment (july) and you can buy them fresh in clovelly, herring season starts a bit later in the year hope this helps
