A historic trip and one you will never ever forget. Glade you left when you did. They say life is nothing but luck and timing. And you my friend, set out on the right week. Everyones life changed on 911. Mine shore did, my son was 2 years from finishing high school, and soon he would be going into the marines. What next, Iraq. Well, he did two tours, and came back ok, and you----- had a great dream trip. I sit and dream of hitting the lottery some day, and going on my dream world tour, with my own 65 ft. Bering trawler. Thanks for the memories!!!!!

Glad to see this video available now! I've watched all the others and when got to this ending in the past, it has been blocked. Anyhow, this series is a great documentary showing the trip that I also want to take. Thanks again, enjoyed it! John

what a trip, I am a Michigander and always wondered if a trip like this would be possible, and what route to take. Thanks for giving me the answer. Now I have another goal to try to achieve. Good job. Now I just need some big cash and a big boat. Maybe someday you never know as my old man used to say.

Great videos i really enjoyed them, thanks for sahring. Originally from New York now live in Fla. my dream is to sail down from the lakes down to Florida, i have sailed the caribbean on a Morgan 33 sailboat now own a 42 searay which i'm about to sell and purchase a trawler. It will be the first step in accomplishing that dream even though it may just stay a dream as time constraints may interfere on achieving it, that is the good thing about you videos at least i get to see someone else live the dream and share his experiences. Thanks Again.

So 7 years later did you do the trip?
@opatin273 жыл бұрын
@@captainmigs1655 unfortunately not, lost the first boat to IRMA purchased another boat Searay 340 which i am about to sell and looking for a trawler. I guess my plans have stayed as plans with yet high hopes to untie the lines. Perhaps soon done with the planning and on with the cruising. Thanks for asking. Hope you are well.

Excellent video series. I boat on Lake St. Clair and found this by accident a few years ago, but only recently watched all of them consecutively. I would love to take my sea ray 390 express on the same journey.

Thanks for the great trip I think all of us boaters dream of a trip like this and seeing yours makes the dream a little more real , I boat on lake Erie and was familiar with 8 foot waves ant the passage to put in bay from Port Clinton. Had to pause a moment when the shot of the world trade center and the date august 30 2001 was on the screen , Hope your doing well in Florida MJH

Just finished watching the 4th video and what a great trip! Thanks for sharing. By chance would you happen to know how much fuel you went through on the trip?
@jimhock58208 жыл бұрын
The fuel story is what is so great about a diesel trawler like my old Mainship. The whole point is to have a single diesel engine (with a bow thruster in front to aid in maneuvering). Then you mostly cruise at the most economical speed (around 7-8 knots) slow but sure. On the entire 6 week trip I used just under $1,000 worth of diesel - however keep in mind that diesel was much less expensive then! - Thanks!
