Hi again Larry, I would suggest trying to join your boxing ends first before you attach it to the plates. Just free up the last 5 or 6 inches in both directions. When you meet the ends to make your cut marks, leave a 1/2 in seam allowance on either side. Then sew your seam, then sew your pipe on/join, then sew to the plate. This way, for at least the top plate you don't have to worry about being too long or too short. Then I would staple the bottom as you planned on doing to make sure you don't get in trouble at the end...

Hi Lizzette- Well never been asked that before and I really don't have any idea. I have never even been on a Hatteras boat. If you are really interested, you could give me a lot of additional info and maybe we could figure it out Good luck they are very nice boats
