Thank you for this video (very helpful for a new boater like myself - just got a Monterey cruiser this summer, also on the chesapeake). Is there a reason you didn't want the pink stuff in the water heater?

Also how much of the pink stuff do you put in the system (relative to your fresh water tank capacity)?

We put 6 gallons of pink in the water tank and that’s enough to distribute it through all the water lines.

Thanks for watching - glad it was helpful! Stinks we need to start thinking about winterizing huh? We drain out the hot water tank (11 gal tank) and bypass it so we don’t need to put pink in it (pink is run through all the other water lines where you can’t be sure all the water is drained out). It would require a lot of pink otherwise, and there’s no sense putting pink in the hot water tank and dealing with flushing it out in spring.

Great - thanks for the details, and yes, I wish we didn't have to think about winterization at all. My season is getting extra short as i just got a "low block pressure" engine alarm when I go above 2k RPM on my mercruiser and the dealer wait time is 2 weeks (I am extra carefull as the boat is new and I don't want to mess up the engine warranty, so I'll paitently wait in line while watching the season continue to slip by haha). Thanks again for answering my questions - I subscribed to your channel and will keep an eye for other topics of interest!

Thanks for the video … I’m usually in Florida for the winter but will be in Virginia for the first time this year. I’ve never had to winterize before… question: how do you figure how many gallons of antifreeze you need? I have 120 gallons capacity. Thanks for any info … I subbed.

Thanks Bill! Must be a shock to the system 🥶 you don’t have to fill your tank - just need enough to run some through all your greasy water lines. We have 2 heads w/2 sinks, shower, galley sink and wash down shower - use about 6 gallons.
