Would love to hear how our Catch-N-Release latch is working after a couple of years on the trailer! Thanks for putting the video together and sharing it with everyone!

You being able to pull the rope to release the mechanism INSTEAD of leaning over precariously will be sooo much safer and easier as well. Great job caring enough to share! ❤

I realize this is an older video, but I would think the boat is happy where it currently is on the trailer. Moving the stand further back may also move the boat further back on the trailer affecting tongue weight, sway, etc. It's been a couple years since your install so you've probably experienced any potential problems it may or may not cause. Good fishing!!!

Great idea for mounting, One note. the unit is Zinc coated, not stainless.

If you have rollers on your trailer, I would make sure the rear rollers rest directly under the transom just like they are now. If you slide that tongue back to the original position (before the drotto) the rollers will not be supporting the very back of the transom. This could cause problems with the hull of your boat. it most likely will be a few inches forward than it was before.

Daniel Fields: Does the same apply if I have carpeted bunks. Right now my rear bunks are even (flush) with the transom. Thank you for the helpful tips.

@@scottsmontanaadventures8360 if it were my boat I would make sure that the boat was sitting on the trailer exactly the way it is right now and only move the winch post. this will also ensure that your weight distribution on the trailer is exactly the same and nothing else changes except for the positioning of the post

I have a roller trailer, its very important to maintain the same boat to trailer position after the latch is installed. SO,, in my case the winch post had to be moved approx 3 inches forward. I even talked to the owner and he confirmed it, along with talking to Lund and they confirmed my boat to trailer position. The only thing that you might experience is a little change in trailer tounge weight.

didn't fit on my boat, also power loading is a big no no in Michigan. Tried Boat Load Mate and loved it. Catches the transom instead.

How would this work in an all electric lake? I can use a stern electric motor to drive boat up to front of trailer but I don't think it's strong enough to latch..your thoughts.

Where did you get the lock for the bolt?

I purchased one it does not work worth a damn. I will not release half the time and it will never latch. Buyer beware!!

Interesting. I have been looking at these for a while and am skeptical. What kind of boat do you have?
