I like how authentic your videos are. Like you are very chilled and it makes the videos easier to watch and more enjoyable compared to others who stress over the final details which have to be perfect. Keen to see more of these types of boats! Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦

Second separate cabin is a game changer!

Agreed! 30ft, goes great, built well. I meet lots of people who want eatra features but not the extra costs of storage so seems sensible for some people

I am from the Pacific Northwest, and this is the first time I have seen a Flipper. It seems to be a nice entry-level boat that would make sense for a lot people and would not break your bank account. 👍 This being said, on a personal level Galeon, or Axopar would be the way to go for quality, service, and especially fit and finish.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Super interesting! I need to get up to your part of the world for a look at the boat life up there. Galeon I have not tested yet but I was an Axopar salesman for 5yrs so done 100's of hrs on them. They are heaps of fun to drive and a great brand now! From what I saw the Flipper is actually built to a higher standard than the Axopar.
@BilldalSWE Жыл бұрын
Both Axopar and Flipper are extremely popular here in Sweden and I would put them very close in terms of quality/fit and finish. Also have a look at Finnmaster in the same segment. Nimbus would be the next step up but also more expensive.
@nengstro Жыл бұрын
Flipper and Galeon are on the same level as to quality... If not to say Flipper is better. They have been making boats since 1968, and Flipper is here in Sweden/FInland considered timeless classics, and is probably one of the most common boat brands here.

Thanks Matt! Kinda easy to be excited when I get all these great boats to test! I really can see this Flipper being awesome for those people who want something that provides more accomodation and features but in the same length so they can keep their current berth or dry stack for example. The quality of build on this boat was high so she's something you'd be pretty stoked to own for a while
@michaell8532 Жыл бұрын
Evening Dan...On Par walkthrough as we've come to expect from your good self, (making a rod and all that! 😉) One of the bigger faults, of the Flipper; Ragtop..... Aussie summers will make quick work of this! Lesser sunroof would be a small price to pay for a GRP, Acrylic or the like roof.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes I see you're point about the roof however GRP increases the weight aloft on a small boat so would contribute to performance loss. I wonder what the weight difference for acrylic is though...? But yes - 5yrs you'll be getting new material for that roof. Same as all the Axopar 28's I used to sell.

Dan, watching the Flipper videos, I kept wondering how you would compare it with the more common, slightly smaller, lower priced Jeanneau 895 & Beneteau Antares 9. All 3 seem to be appealing to the same buyer altho' the Flipper's (more advanced?) hull seems to run better in a seaway and offers higher build quality. What say you, Sir?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
So a fair comparison Jack. Beneteau and Jeanneau are the perfect entry level boat for a young family that will pack a lot in for people steping into their first true overnighter style of boat. I see the Flipper appealing to someone who's had a few boats and dialled into their specific needs a little more. This could be not wanting to go over 30ft due to their berth or rack and stack capacity for example. She's a super neat and higher quality boat than the mass market brands that would be best suited to somebody who plans to keep it for a few years and not just sell it next summer in my opinion. For that type of person this is a boat that will give great value. On the downside the re-sale is unproven so if you are going to be turning your boats over regularly until you reach your big dream boat for example then stick with the major brands.

As a Finn, don't worry about the Scandinavian reference. Even though we are not geographicly Scandinavian (as we are part of Fennoscandia), we are scandinavian by heritage and culture (minus eastern finnish russian and lapland snow people hehe), but they a a minority anyway. P.s Awesome to see Finnish boats in 🦘.

Awesome little boat but when you step in from the back deffo could do with a gate because my 2 kids at 18 month old would of cleared that in a few seconds so i would for sure want a gate there
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Yes sure if the little tackas are lively then agree you could benefit from adding a gate. I guess my point was nobody will accidentally fall in when you accelerate because the steps are pretty high.

what's up with all these boats having square cushions on the seats, set at 90 degree angles?? Is it to give the appearance of more space?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife8 ай бұрын
So yes I believe it is designed to pack more into the space actually. With throw cushions it’s totally comfortable and then when you’re eating you sit up straight. But yeah I believe it is to get more features into a more compact space
@salty-pete Жыл бұрын
Those steps will keep the kids or dogs from accessing the swim platform. It's obvious Dan, you don't have kids or a dog.

How do these boats get from Finland to Australia? It's like half the globe. They get flown there, or on a cargo ship or being driven there?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
We take drunk Englishmen off the streets of London in the middle of the night and when they wake up they are already on sailing ships packed with cargo headed for Australia. We use them as crew for these ships and they quickly learn the ropes. It takes a few months to sail here and when they arrive they need to pick fruit to earn enough money for their ticket home or they have the option to rent an apartment in Bondi and stay for a year. Wait...wait....I think.... yeah maybe I have the wrong century and now it might just be cargo ships burning bunker oil... ill check

Oh, and hello from North Carolina USA.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
G'day Todd, i've not tested an Antares 11 yet but I will if Beneteau have one for me to drive. The Flipper looks to me like she's built to a higher standard but the Beneteau will have more mass market appeal and probably better resale. So if you're looking for a boat thats perfect for your needs and you'll keep for a few years the Flipper could be an option. The Antares 11 is a lot bigger than this boat so will appeal in other ways and you should also compare that with the Jeanneau 1095 Merry Fisher which you can view here kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4G9p5KvmLtgptk

They missed the mark on not having at least sliding side windows. Too many hot areas in the world where you would have to have the top closed to block the Sun JMO
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
I see your point for the tropics. Designers from Northern Europe generally don't have so much exposure to strong heat so they design differently.

Put a few fans in the cabins would go a long way.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, but it also had ventilation to each cabin and a technical space big enough to install air con to run off lithium.
@BilldalSWE Жыл бұрын
Yeah but that's more of a question for the dealers depending on the climate where it's sold. You very rarely need fans here in the Nordics which is the main market.

Do they have R's in the Australian language? Supa Dupa Flippa
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Absolutely but mostly in written form. You need to think of Australian as a more modern and refined version of the English language. Version 2.0 where we have gently removed all the unnecessary bits and created the most effecient way of communicating by using the least amount of words and syllables. You could think of it like the perfect version of English perhaps... ;)

If your good. Why be afraid of the Adventure boat? Your hull and design. Is very generic.... No room for real fishing, diving, or many things outside of a water taxi. No room for adaptability. And half the range.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Yeah I understand your point for sure. The paople I was trying to speak to were those who want to overnight onboard and do more lunching onboard where this layout works better for that purpose. I'm the biggest fan/supporter of adventure boats there is but I can still appreciate their limitations when it comes to overnighting for example.
