I am so tired of boxy boats with high and straight up bows, good only to get wet. Finally a boat which looks like a real boat. Your walkthrough + sea test are the best online, by far. A pleasure to watch, great channel.

Just spent the weekend up in Harpswell, Maine at the Dolphin Marina. Pretty famous little port in mid-northern Maine. There were three Sabre's docked up. Two from the south. Florida, New York, and one from Canada I believe. All traveled hundreds of miles to get to Harpswell. Our oceans have been pretty rough this summer with lots of wind and rain. These boats and owners really live up to the boat's mission of long-distance open ocean cruising. One of them was a near-new 50-footer. The new big one traveled through a storm the day before to dock up. If I were doing a Florida to Maine trip, one of these or a Riviera 5400 would be my two boats of choice. Made for the open blue. These Sabres are really something up close and handle the northern New England chop with ease. Impressive bit of kit. Keep up the great work Dan! Loving your work from New Hampshire, USA!

Yes! I agree 100% with your choice and i've heard a lot of good things about the Maine boating culture so very keen to get up that way to visit soon. Thanks for the feedback!

Mark, Dan has a great channel and so do quite a few others. If you're into yachts and yachting I would also recommend Nick with his channel Aquaholics as well as Tristan with Super Yacht captain. Also, Rico and Victoria with Nautistyle. Also David Seal with his channel featuring yachts for sale and charter besides doing walk-throughs at various shipbuilding yards. I worked a few years as a marine Carpenter for a company in Florida trimming out decks and interiors and also worked for the cruise ship division. I grew up around boats and yachts and love them. It's nice to see how the other side lives. Wish I were there.

Beatiful with a lot of attention made in the design to make it easy to use enjoy. I like the galley being bright with the windows around. A fly bridge would be nice but it's not a deal breaker at all.

Stunning boat, Dan. Pass along our thanks to the owners, please. Assuming a price in the high hundreds (or more, fully equipped), this is the alternative choice to a wealthy buyer simply going bigger, thereby increasing workload and the likely necessity of crew with its added complications. This makes Southwestern Pacific cruising in comfort possible. And you are so right: We certainly don't begrudge our 30,000 miles and 50+ countries/island nations while cruising, some of those miles hard earned. But now it's not just about 'easier'. It's that 'time machine' reward a move to power brings with it that attracts. This is a boat for seamen of both genders who actually plan to stay active in the management of their cruising. Wow!

love the boat. I just don't like the tender having to be sticking out at the back when stored. What is the realistic smallest size power yacht in which a tender, doesn't have to be a big one, just a useful one, can be hidden away but accessible as needed? Thanks.

Have you analysed the TARGS 46 (looks idential to your SAGA 45) ? would be interested to your comparison. My interests lie in 45 - 50 ft range. The choise of propulsion would be HAMILTON Jets as appendages pose a problem when you have so many 'BEACHing' situations as we have across the TASSY as you may be aware

Only one thing to ask, can you transform the REAR-DECK into a FISHING PLATFORM??!!! I love the lay out of this boat, just need to fish.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Hmm good question, I don't know the answer. I would say unlikely due to the moulding of that aft seat. You could rig up a transom bar with rod holders on the aft deck swim platform.

I actually prefer reviews like this one that don't open every drawer and cabinet. Unless there is something truly unique about the design or operation of one, I don't think it adds much.

Importing a boat from the US, was there any problems going from 60hz to 50hz?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
So if you import a US boat to Aus without getting it ordered specifically for Aus through a dealer then yes you would have issues. Shore power and Aussie appliances won’t work as an example.

Sabres are great boats, I just don’t see what they offer in function and in some respects comfort, over Scandinavian boats like Targa, Sargo, Nimbus, etc….
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
I think when beauty is high on your priority list you'd pick the Sabre as they are very classy. I've not driven the Sargo or Targa but I have driven many Nimbus boats (which are fantastic) and the Sabre is in a class of its own when it comes to fast offshore cruising in comfort.
@navajasrs2402 Жыл бұрын
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I dunno man, ever been in a Targa 46? I get that some people like the sort of snotty East coast straight from the golf club to the yacht club aesthetic, but Targa’s 46 has got plenty of teak and will absolutely lap a Sabre without anyone spilling drinks in hand. Again, Sabres are gorgeous boats, no doubt, and to each their own. Love the channel.

Ips is bad for the captain's wallet captain needs cat power with shaft and rudder with large propellers
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Yes an IPS is more to run however there is an argument for running the boat with less crew and doing less damage when parking. If you have stepped out of a sail boat with no power experience for example this would be a comfortable transition.

Awesome boat but comparing motor yacht to sailboat by saying that one is better because gets places faster? Silly, it’s like saying that motorcycle is better than bicycle because it’s faster……that’s not why people ride bicycle at first place 🤣
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Each to their own I guess. I've been a sailor for the last 25yrs and appreciate the luxury of doing a fast cruise in a motor boat so I guess I was speaking to those people who may also have similar desires to enjoy both power and sail.
