Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795 Sport Series 2 is the all rounder of boats that will meet many different needs.
It looks to me like an attempt to capture some of the Adventure Boat market thats so dominated by the Finnish. Am I right or is it something else? Join me and lets discover the answer together.

These extended performance vids, counterbalanced by the walk-thrus, are immensely helpful to those of us who are shopping, as Dan surely knows. As one example, I watched this one several times while paying attention to the soundtrack. Engine noise: Easily tolerable. But the hull just never seemed to stop bumping and slapping into the waves, even the inshore chop. Couldn't help but think about the Quarken test which Dan offered at the end of this vid. What a difference. If only it had 'real' weekend amenities.

Best on KZbin. It's crazy nobody else does it to such extend. Even the consumption numbers are so basic but useful that you can't find elsewhere

100% agree about the approach to getting the family involved, especially the bit about keeping them informed about what’s going on all the time to build their confidence

Great Video! We have a boat similar to this and love it - Beneteau Barracuda 8 on west coast Scotland. Copes great in some choppy seas and brilliant for a young family. Keep the vids going, they’re awesome 👍

Good assessment of what to expect from a 795. Would like to see you take the 895 sport out with twin 250s. It's a mini rocketship.

Thanks! And means more coming from a Merry Fisher owner. Yes I have my eyes on testing more Merry Fisher's this winter and into spring. I'm going to try my best to do all of them offshore so you guys have that perspective to compare it.

My absolute dream boat!!! I would definitely put a diesel generator in this boat for the A/C.
@jacktyler7599
@jacktyler7599 11 ай бұрын
Just a thought from another Floridian: If your principle need for A/C is a cool forward cabin for the night aboard, these smaller boats should work well with a Zero Breeze or similar A/C unit and closing off the passageway into that forward cabin. A ZB with its attached inverter would do most of a single night.

@@jacktyler7599 I wonder about the annual maintenance cost, assuming I keep it on the water year round. I wish all these boat reviews would discuss that matter as well. It’s not just a out buying the boat.

@@floridaoutdooradventures8981 For wet berthing year 'round, it's basically about size, not type or brand. Haulout, paint, slip fees but also fuel burn, insurance premium - its primarily about 'buy less, pay less all year long'.

You can tow these with any of the 3.5ton rated Utes Ranger/Holden Colorado etc. I towed a fully laden one the length of NZ (both islands) clocking 1000's of KMS and back no probs (although it is overwidth for NZ roads, so needed over width badges on trailer. Agree with comments around hull, not a bluewater hull but we did take it many miles offshore, just had to pick your days. Excellent family boat and great in a following sea but a bit too beamy for my liking in chop or swell.

Man that sounds like you had an awesome adventure! It would be overwidth in Aus too so only daylight towing. I’m in the US right now and you wouldn’t believe the size boats they can tow over here! Happy to hear I got the hull design correct. I think for the style of boating you did and just making wise decisions around the weather it’s perfect. All the weather protection makes it an awesome little family boat. I can only imagine how much fun she’d be in Marlborough Sounds!

Yeah even down to Milford Sound, overnighted off White Island, Sword fishing off Barrier Island and landed Marlin off Poor Knight Island group so definitely clocked some miles in it. Interestingly I think the Jeanneau Cap Camarat 7.5 range is a better blue water hull having driven one of those, but I'd love to know how they compare to the stepped Axopar/Saxdor/Dromeas/Quarken hulls and what you think is the ultimate chop/swell handling hull in the 25-30ft range. One thing I think is missing from your great reviews Dan is how stable they are at rest in open water, us fishos look for that sort of thing, Ie those Axopars look brilliant on the go, but I wonder what the narrow beam is like when stationery in open water.@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife

In the UK and EU, it's not rated for offshore, it's only rated as an inshore boat (CAT C).
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Yes Australia has CE as well as local regulations too. Down here they give you an inshore and offshore safe number of passengers. I gaurantee a lot of coastal ports in UK, France and Portugal have 795's berthed and regularly heading offshore fishing. That's why a common sense approach to planning and weather is helpful I think. You also see loads of these boats heading way out down here on fishing trips.

Last time you tried the 10.5 and now the 795. Do those 2 meters make a big difference for offshore boating?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
HUGE Difference! In general the bigger the boat the more comfortable you will be but yes the 1095 is just a more capable platform - period. Anyone stepping into a 1095 from a smaller Merry Fisher will immediately notice benefits to the handling, but at the same time you're in a familiar environment in terms of the operational aspects of the boat.

It sounds like going "boating" takes the same attitude as diving. Its fun fun and exciting but it can kill you if not trainrd, experienced and ready. If you could throw another 50K at the base price at this boat what would you do?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Yes - very true! I would do an optional hard roof extended all the way out the back with more roof racks so surf boards, kayaks etc store easily on the roof and the aft deck is fully protected in shade.
