Love the Riviera 6000 and 5400!

I've not tested the 6000 but I have sold a 5800 back in my salesman days and wow that was a great hull! The 5400 in my opinion shits all over most of the Northern Hemisphere hulls I have tested so far. It's exceptional quality. Not as exciting to drive as some of them to be fair but it's built like a tank and you can tell.

Simple and clean nothing unnecessary very nice all the fridge space was on point

I also like how they put lots of small fridges so you don't have a big stand up fridge blocking your sightline when you're looking aft from the helm. What did you think of the bbq?

Thanks Dan for this terrific review. The solidity and quality of the Riviera really came across . This craft is definitely appropriate for use anywhere in the world with the special Australian design touches translating well for all markets. I would choose this stylish boat over most European offerings because I think it would be a better, longer lasting, investment.

Thanks Jonathan! I'm glad that came across on camera. I've surveyed Riv's on my brokerage business for over a decade now and they always survey very well (even the older ones). They have the reputation down here as one of the safest boats to purchase in terms of of future resale value and I also observe this to be correct when selling them myself, so it's a credit to the brand for being consistent with quality and good design. Probably a little conservative compared to the Euro designs but why change when you're onto a winning model right!

In Australia we design the bbq first and then build the rest of the boat around it. We don't have sunbeds everywhere like the Europeans because we are skin cancer conscious and we boat all year round, unlike the Mediterranean who have a boating "season". We make all weather boats. So, you won't find aft sunbeds. We use that space as you see here, under cover and a proper entertainment space. The funny part is, if boaters in the Med bought Australian boats they could extend their boating season and they could have a better level of entertainment at anchor instead of lying on a sunbed all day. We still have a sunbed forward if needed, but that would be very seldom. Perfect boat for the Med and you can pick up refugees on their way to Europe and feed and accommodate them.

Very good points John about extending their season this is very true! One thing I notice about Europeans is they look at boating as something they do in the summer season and they pack up their boats for winter to pursue other sports and activities. Where we seem to just go boating all year round which is a bit different to what I observe over there.
@JohnSmith-zo6ir2 жыл бұрын
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I know many boaters in the Med who would love to boat longer and they do. They just need the right boats. You will notice many of their fly bridges are open which is crazy whereas we have closed fly bridges which can be heated and cooled and once again extends the boating season. The weather can turn quickly in the Med so an open flybridge becomes useless. The Med has some nice winter days as well. There are great sheltered spots around Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Spain. Australian manufacturers need to do a better job at marketing their products in Europe, but I know both Riviera and Maritimo have long wait times out to 2024.

Very nice walkthrough, I've seen Nick from aquaholics do reviews on a couple Riviera's, I don't think he's done one on this model.

Nick does an amazing job. His videos are partly what inspired me to get into KZbin as we both have a similar background from selling boats

I linked to the dealers in the description because Riv is always sold out years in advance meaning the price will change.

A strip of plastic to protect the gel coat from the anchor chain- really ? looks like unnecessary cost-cutting, should be stainless steel.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
I think it's a removable wear strip due to the fact it will get worn away anyway. The idea is you can swap it out over time. These boats definately don't cost cut from what I can see. If anything they overbuild them and focus on being very practical for harsh climates.

At 24.5Kts she ran pretty good on fuel for her weight though. Plus I suspect most people are only doing the big offshore runs a few times per year. After food I think fuel is my No. 2 favourite expense. Everything awesome happens when i'm burning diesel. Such good memories!
