this song sounds like what sunlight in the morning feels like. you’re struggling in life right now, still at war with yourself with the knowledge that you have to power through another day, but the sunlight through your kitchen window as you make something to wake you up is enough to make you feel a sort of comfort that you haven’t felt in a while. comfort that feels like warmth in your bones- in your skin -and you feel a little less dreadful about the day. maybe today will be different. maybe today will be okay. update for april 26th, 2023 | 11:40PM: you are all so sweet in the comments!! thank you so much for your kind words and additions, im touched by how sentimental and kind you all are. there's nothing quite like going to listen to your favorite song again and see that your comment on it from a year ago has gotten so many likes and heartfelt messages. im a little upset (distraught actually) that i cant respond to all of you individually, but in a way it feels as if we're all linked through this song, no matter how fleeting it may be. its just a nice reminder that everyone is always connected :] (sorry if that was corny haha!! for real though, thank you all :] i showed my girlfriend this because i was so blown away and happy about it LMAO)

In the late 90s and early 2000s i played in an indie band that did a lot of touring, with most weekends having at least one gig out of town. I bought this song on cassette (not the whole album, just the single!) from a small music store during a meal stop. it got jammed in the archaic tape player my old 86 Civic For the rest of the drive. I was so over it when I got home I conveniently discarded the tape once I managed to get it out, and only recently rediscovered this band… hearing this text me back to open Road driving in the early hours as a carefree 20 something. Music is probably the closest thing we will get to time travel.

The song "Duvet" by Bôa (UK) is about someone describing the feeling of being overwhelmed by emotions and struggling to overcome the situation. They reference their fear "turning into whispers in her ear", their "candlelight smile" they used to share, and losing "everything" to describe their experience, ultimately asking for help to "breathe". The chorus reflects the underlying theme of the song: feel lost, lost and alone as they continually plead for help to breathe.

Maybe because she sounds similar to Shawn Colvin, Natalie Merchant and Sarah McLachlan. This is from '98 and a lot of female Soft-Rock artists in the 90's had a similar sound that was started by Wilson Phillips in 1990. And a lot of *male* Soft-Rock artists in the 90's like Fuel, Candlebox, Temple of the Dog and Stone Temple Pilots sound similar to Pearl Jam. A lot of male Rock artists were also inspired by RHCP. RHCP and Faith No More helped popularize Nu-Metal Rock-Rap, which peaked from the Mid 90's to 2002. Aerosmith was the originator of Rock-Rap.
