The main purpose of this kit is to make it small enough so that people are happy to bring it along no matter what, whereas a better and possibly larger kit would often be left behind since people cannot be bothered. And having a small and I guess cheaper kit does improve your chances of survival. Thanks for the video mate.

There’s a lot of negative comments here! I think this is a great little kit, I’m definitely going to get one just to have in my day pack in my 4wd. I think perhaps some people are misinterpreting the target consumer for a kit like this. In my way of thinking, this is something you can buy and chuck in your gear that gives you lots more options for survival when something unexpected happens in the outback. I’m going to take water, sunscreen, my car keys and a small first-aid kit in my pack when I go for a walk up a gorge to find some beautiful landscape, I’ll throw this in as well. I’m not a prepper and I don’t think this kit is targeted at someone who is. Sure you maybe could buy better stuff cheaper if you know where to get it and what is “better”. I’m just not going to carry anything bigger or heavier. I like how the tin has a bit of extra room to squeeze a couple of extra things in. I suggest a few antihistamine tabs, and maybe a little pamphlet showing the more common and best value-for-effort bush tucker.

The glucose tablet would act as sugar. That tab in hot water would make it instantly sweet and of course give you straight glucose energy. I like the review!

That 2"x2" pad you said was tinder can be used for tinder, but it is actually a non-stick Tefla pad. It's used to cover wounds and won't stick to the wound when you take it off. Just wanted to pass that info along. Thanks for the upload. Peace.

@bluemoonfilm3 жыл бұрын
@@aussiestallion69 Well obviously. If you read up the information on survival that goes with the kit you will see the priorities and why. First sit down and dont panic. Take stock of your situation and what you need. This is an emergency pack. If you use it as a shelter you dont need to use it as a windbreak for example. Water is one of the highest priorities.

It could, but it would stick to wounds so it's not ideal. It's hard to do the first time, but you get there.

It’s meant as tinder but the kit is so over priced / under valued they couldn’t be bothered putting in real performance tinder such as wet fire. So they put in ten cents of cotton pads.

Its a shame that the information on how each item has multi uses and how they work together is not included in the review. Its that information from Bob on how to survive that will get you through. Glucose is sugar. And can be used for lighting a fire. For instance the foil on the stock cubes makes a good lure on the fishing line. We easily caught small fish with it. Made water. Made shelter. Made fire using three different methods from items in the kit.

Dude u could make this kit for abouta quarter of the price. a lot of junky gear in there, -the tea, coffee, stock cubes cost pennies, - a cheap knife and multitool. - 4 water tabs you can buy a box of 20 for 12$, - hotel sewing kit u can get one for free at any hotel u stay in, -Ferro rod you'd be lucky to get 100 sparks of that its so small you'd never be able to use that if you were cold and your motor skills weren't up to par -cheap band aids - that water bag would bust from brushing against a twig - take your scalpel blade the fresnel lens and pencil and trash the rest.

What are the Australian knife laws
@TwoPlusTwoEqualsFive327 жыл бұрын
Depends on state to state. As general, having a knife that doesn't "look" military while camping will get you by. Camping is classed as recreational activity and is permitted. When transporting it keep it in the boot and remove it as soon as you get home after camping. Our laws on knives or anything considered to be a weapon, this is basically "anything" that can be deemed as used or for malicious purposes can have you arrested. You can of course fight it in court. It's difficult because it all falls down to the interpretation of the cop, and his "best judgement" Basically don't go walking around town with a knife on your belt, wearing a hoody as opposed to being in the bush with a knife on your belt doing camping chores.

Is this a joke? Please tell me this has a warning on the pack saying 'novelty purposes only'. In big letters. Someone could get into serious strife if they buy it and dump it in a bag thinking 'I'm good to go'. I mean I know you should check equipment before use but having a blunt knife is deplorable, a chintzy multi tool and no superglue? The tin is ok, signal mirror, plastic bag is good and often overlooked, wire, pencil, all ok. Maybe the torch but didn't see it working, surgical blade maybe, fishing kit maybe. Pretty much everything else needs swapped out with either good versions or something more useful. Sewing kit? With 6 different colours of thread? Seriously? Duct tape would be nice, Isotonic tablets have both glucose and salts, caffeine tab if you must stay awake. More purification tabs, you'll burn through them in a couple of days in that heat. You get the idea.

I've had a thought, it kind of looks as if someone maybe read bobs book then made a kit. Without asking advice or trying it afterwards. For 48 hours it's really not good, I guess for a 24hour survival kit I've seen worse, but not from anything made outside of China. Wait..... It's not made in China by any chance? 😉
@cacherify8 жыл бұрын
+Alex Arcano It's hard to tell where the individual components are manufactured. China is a definite possibility for at least some of them. Thanks for your insights, I definitely agree with your suggestions for additions.

+Camping NQ np. I kind of loathe to say it, but the yanks have done it better and cheaper. I'd love to see a home grown Australian kit that rocks (I'm from Scotland btw) but I'm sorry, this kit looks like a cash cow. Bear Grills, Dave Canterbury, I'm looking at you guys too. Everyone seems to sell out but dammit guys there's limits. I guess at the end of the day if you rely on any pre made 'survival kit' you're asking for trouble, I'd like to see a warning on the packaging of all of these types of kit informing the buyer that it's not a stand alone survival option. Meh. Rant over. 😉

Otherwise decent kit.. Bit pathetic it only gave you 1 glucose tablet for how expensive these kits are in Australia. From chemist warehouse its $3 for 24 tablets. The worst thing about Bobs kit.. Please understand the difference between an unboxing and a review. If you have not used the kit in the way it's intended, you can't label anything a review. This is an unboxing and perhaps a table top review if you really stretch it, but no one can trust your opinion. Best kit you've seen? No...its shit. The blade isn't even sharp. The first thing to do in a survival situation is make tea? Bullshit. The spring on a leatherman rust? No..its not a coil spring and its stainless. The whistle is way too big for a small kit. Always check everything, including your torch before you need it. With a kit container that big, I'd expect an emergency blanket and or a fishing yoyo and a couple lures and flies. A deck of mini survival cards? Hahhahha riiiiiight...

@aussiestallion693 жыл бұрын
@@bluemoonfilm correct I haven’t used it because anyone with half a brain wouldn’t waste their money on this toy. The majority of bits in this kit can be sourced from eBay or Alibaba extremely cheaply, go check for yourself, I did. In terms of experience I’m ex military with survival training, plus extensive bushcraft experience and that’s why I’m commenting to alert others to this rip off. If it was marketed as a child’s survival kit experience teaching aid then all good, but it’s not marketed that way. Another thing, if you look at the history of this kit you’ll see that items such as the knife have been changed multiple times over the years, now I’m all for improvement but the changes indicate to me that whatever is cheaper at the time will be used, not what is the best knife they can include for the contents budget.
