The Chris Cuomo Project

The Chris Cuomo Project

Күн бұрын

In this episode of The Chris Cuomo Project, Chris explores the need to end the stigma surrounding mental health issues, draws lessons that Americans can learn from Queen Elizabeth II, and celebrates George Carlin’s legacy.
Bob Costas, renowned sports broadcaster and host of HBO’s “Back On the Record with Bob Costas,” joins Chris for part one of an extended, in-depth conversation about his career, the state of U.S. politics, and, of course, baseball.
Follow and subscribe to The Chris Cuomo Project on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and KZbin for new episodes every Tuesday.

It takes great courage to be truly Authentic! It must feel fantastic to hang out personally and professionally as Chris. You have come out of the depths as a better stronger person who fully gets (as a result of your necessary silence) what his purpose in life truly is. Keep on keeping on as you continue to evolve exhibiting the behaviour of fairness as a Free Agent.

Thank you for being you. I’m so grateful for you and your brother and your families. You both got me through a tough few years by being genuine, respectful, empathetic and professional. I have come off social media for a while because I found it too mentally draining and for other reasons. I will be back, but for now I enjoy listening to your podcast and watching your KZbin channel. I boycotted the mainstream media because I am horrified what they put you and your brother through. Keep going no matter what. Thank you so much.

Two reasonable minds. Cuomo’s analogy of a felony vs infraction to describe the ridiculous whataboutism in politics is spot on. And Costas’ observation re lack of context in media covering Floyd and police brutality cases may be correct but the bigger context is that enough is enough. As someone who advocates in criminal justice, I see the injustices towards black and brown people. While police brutality is not limited to minorities, it is absolutely heightened and more egregious towards people of color. I also remember the distinction you (Chris) drew and demonstrated on CNN. between brutality cases against innocent drivers and joggers while black and riots involving bad actors/criminals. Looking forward to Part 2!

I'm up late I watched and I listened. I really want to watch this again tomorrow. I had a late start today, you are a very brilliant man and coming from a new angle or different perspective than I'm use to. I am a big follow of Andrew politics over the past several years. Seen you on CNN and your just different, but in a great way. First, thank you for speaking up abt. mental health, your personal life. Second, I always love your openings and I love how you talk abt. your dad and you added video of him. George Carlin was awesome he is a legend. I never listened to Bob Costas, he talks really nice and doesn't bash people This is worth watching twice. Good night Chris

I love them both from my heart and if I could will them to have better media on them I would. Both are v intelligent and I tried to start a website for them but couldn’t without them. I want to see Chris and Andrew on camera together ! Andrew should do 92Y as his father did. Another component to ponder in the stigma of mental health … many people don’t know how to respond. Some are awkward and don’t know what to say or make a lighthearted comment as a nervous response not wanting to offend. Plus … everyone responds differently. Traditionally- People opening up about personal issues, whether it’s mental health, chronic or terminal disease is something that is more comfortably disclosed through intimate relationships or deep friendships … talking openly about these issues on social media outlets is not always a safe arena for support or compassion. It’s always good to read the room 👍

Chris this is what works for me. When in destress. When my mind wants to run away with destressing thoughts. Start listening to your breathing. This takes your focus off of those thoughts. Keep listening to your breathing until you feel better. This is step one on learning to control your mind. Monotor your thoughts this takes practice, but when you reject the stupit , evil , or ridiculous thoughts you stop the trama before it starts. This thought sorting process also makes us better people. We don't act on some ridiculous thought that we focused on and got stuck. Another big help in maintaining sanity is forgiveness! Forgive everything, then dismiss the offender. Karma will teach them their lesson. By forgiving them you free yourself from the resentment. Try this it's Buddhism, but it's also in many spiritual paths.

63, started therapy at 14 after losing my sister who was 18. Almost 50 years ago, we did not have the mental health help that we have today. I needed therapy and medication later on. I just became riddled with panic and anxiety. I have been on Prozac for way over a decade and it works for ME! I have never been ashamed, I have serious mental illnesses in my family, including paranoid schizophrenia! The suicide and suicide attempts are staggering and they include me! When I got serious about therapy in the '80's after my brother died of AIDS, I knew this was a do or die situation. I was not yet medicated and just about agoraphobic, I went to my appointments , unless I was dead! That was the deal I made with my therapist. I had her home number...just in case and saw her 3 times a week! Oh yeah, basically an outpatient. I will always be there for anyone in brain pain, it's NO shame! Free Agent Bev

This is coming from someone who genuinely likes CC. I feel and enjoy your passion on Free Agency and changing the system. But I can't help but wonder how genuine it is, and heartfelt, because I can't escape from asking "would Chris be saying what he's saying and courageously leading this campaign, if he weren't fired from CNN?" "Has he always sincerely believed these things, or is it an angry backlash to the very system that rejected him?" Again, I love and respect the work Chris has always done, and agree with him now 100 percent. But is it real? 🤔
@amandawilmot6780

Why do those have to be the only two options? You've never been through something that changed your perspective or made you realize what was happening around you? Ever hear of the tunnel vision grind? People change, we constantly grow and learn new things, which in turn give us a new perspective and might change our position. This isn't that far from where he was before, it's just a bit more nuanced now and on a bit of a deeper level.
@paulnichols4647
@paulnichols4647 2 жыл бұрын
@@amandawilmot6780 I absolutely agree with you that life experiences can change our perspective, but I don't think it's being presented that way. Or maybe I missed him talk about how his experience (which for the record I believe he was treated unfairly and wrong) had him arrive at this place of crusade to abolish the two party system and expose the motivations of the media. Again, all of which I agree with. I just want to be able to trust that our champion is pure, and that if CNN sees how horrible their ratings are and decide to throw $20 million a year at him to return, that we won't lose our advocate. That's all I'm saying.

Wouldn't it be better to take the money out of politics over term limits? Why can't pols just be satifised with their salary? I'm torn on the subject of term limits because part of me feels that if the majority wants to keep electing the same candidate, then that is their right/choice. Yes, you're weeding out the bad politcians, but you're also getting rid of great politicians with experience.
