Legend! Those free throws were on point. He did misremember the scene’s dialogue, which happens long before Nolte’s character cheats. But, at his age, it’s understandable 😂.

'I wasn't a great free throw shooter, 81 percent. ' 😅 The man is a humble legend.

In 1973 I went to a Cousy summer basketball camp and Bob awarded me the #1 defensive player of the week. He was an amazing instructor of the game.

"It's your friendly athletic director making his appearance to tell you that maybe kicking basketballs into the stands is not the best idea." haha Cousy was great in this role!

Totally. This was his acting debut and other than a cameo as himself jim 'celtic pride' his only real role... but he just feels like a perfect fit for the character

The amazing thing was Bob was hitting those free throws at 66 and making them like he was playing again.

Nick nolte ad libbed the do u ever miss libe. As buried free throw after free throw. At 62. He would literally own today's nba. Dropped 50 before the three point line

1st team consensus All American, an NCAA championship, 6 NBA championships, NBA MVP, 10x All NBA 1st team, 13x All Star and having your number retired by the Celtics. “I was alright”. Understatement of a lifetime. Bob not only racked up the above resume but is basically considered the person who began to shape the concept of a point guard.

An 80% plus Free Throw shooter... And he made 21 in a row. Sounds about right. No pressure, just hanging out and shooting. "Do you ever miss." Works for me. Cousy was just too cool in this interview and the movie.

I was an ok free throw shooter. About 81% or something like that. 81%???
@smoothALOE4 жыл бұрын
Technically, 80.3% for his career, but that’s damn good, especially when you take into account what most players shot during his era.

Nick could have sabotaged the scene if he wanted to, but he played off it perfectly. Two absolute pros in their respective fields.

Mind you he was in his 60s and probably had stopped messing around with a basketball for a few decades prior. Utterly impressive. I'm a Kobe's generation; however, people need to understand that we are a product of our era. Bob Cousy, Elgin Baylor, Larry Bird, Ice Man, Jerry West, Dr, Jay, etc... would be just as great as they were back then in today's game. You would not have today's standards and then use a time machine and bring those guys in. No, No, No. Those guys would have been teenagers in this era and would be just as ambitious to be who they are. That's how it works.

The move is great except for one part.when coach admits to giving shaq a car he didn't want and the booster says no it was a rocket powered surf board.that one line is so over the top and out of place.and then nolte gives that epic speach on cheating the game.that one line and how its delivered almost ruined the scene.
