I have a mule sired by Bob's Jack, Highlander. The mule was bred to my mare and foaled at my house. I took the mule colt, less than 24 hours old, to my Middle School where I teach PE and had 6 classes of students handling him. Great imprinting!! This mule is so gentle and affectionate. He comes running across the pasture when he sees me. I have had him trained to ride under saddle. He''s excellent. Not once has he spooked at anything on the trail. There is only one problem. He's big! I always look for a log or rock to stand on when I step into the stirrup and I'm 6'1" tall.

Bring him into a narrow, deep ditch to get on or off of him. Hauling a ditch around is rite impractical, teaching him to kneel down is not. I've only rode one camel, but that's how i got on and off (5'2" so always solving problems). Many a fool will tell you he can't learn to get up/down with a rider. Believe'em if you want ...

I had Chickens and Ducks ... My Ducks trained the Chickens (ya can't herd Chickens, as they are individuals... but they will follow Ducks that are herd animals) Ducks are easy to herd (move in mass) Drakes and Roosters in the yard also formed a bond when there was a Hawk around they would get together as soon as a Rooster sounded an alarm which was weird because Ducks have much better eyesight than Chickens ... (all the Hens ran for cover while the Drakes and Roosters were out in the open in a tight group like a gang looking for a fight) Fun stuff to watch

So much disinformation in this video. I have nothing against mules, and they have advantages over horses in some areas. They are not likely to overeat and founder, and they typically withstand heat better than horses. Mules are not more trainable than horses. The statements that mules produce more work than horses and that draft mares never work are ludicrous. Healthy, well managed mares lose little time in harness. It's a good thing for the mule people that such is the case, because without draft horse mares as dams, we would never have big mules. Mr. Doxey failed to mention the necessity of horse mares in the process.
