For my friends and I Blowing in the Wind became an anthem, for perhaps, youthful naivety, but it was The Song Upon Which We Hung Peace, as one would waer there heart upon their sleeve - so NO! NEVER HAVE I TIRED OF IT. ( I'm glad you came full circle- you found what you heard all those years ago!) Made me tear up, Bob, not easily done in these cynical times that aren't changing... Love Bob Dylan, I bless him, and keep him. Namaste World

He was so much older then, he's younger than that now! Dylan effortlessly recasts this historic, iconic and monumental song without being worn down by what it was/is or overwhelmed by the expectations of his audience. This is his genius as a performance artist.

Glad this leaked. Music shouldn't be owned by one person as something to put on their shelf and brag about being the only person to be able to listen to it while simultaneously never listening to it.

Why not? I mean, I’m glad it was released. But why should it not be??? What if someone buys a Van Gough…does that need to be shared with The World? If so, why? I don’t mean to ride you relentlessly…I just hate feel-good, hollow statements that ring of jingoism. All hype…little substance.

@@billyinnes9074 I am pretty passionate about media preservation, always have been. Most of my hobbies are hobbies with a weird subset of people that hoard unobtainable rare media that many are looking for, mainly music and rare early to late 90s Japanese PC games. I just get bugged by the whole elitist collectors markets and wanted to share my thoughts. This is a pretty important recording as well, it's weird to market it with the whole "only you will own it and nobody else will have it and it will be worth a ton of money due to that" thing.
@billyinnes9074
@billyinnes9074 11 ай бұрын
I’m equally as passionate about various forms of media. If I had $3 million dollars to burn, and I asked Bob Dylan to re-record 10 songs of my request…why not? Back in the 1960s should we have not listened to Bob Dylan because most of the people in China and the USSR couldn’t buy or hear is albums? Between them…toss in Eastern Europe, too…you’ve got a sizable chunk of the world’s population. I don’t think we’re entitled to everything we want, just because we want it. That’s White Privilege coming through…ironic, isn’t it, that so much White Privilege would glare its head as a result of this song??

Quotation from Burnett: “This really started because recorded music has been commoditized to zero over the last 20-30 years. Because we work in an age of mechanical reproduction, musicians have had to accept the definition of the value of their music from the government, from corporations, from technologists, from record companies, from streamers. Well, in this case, we have taken matters into our own hands, and we control the means of production and we control the copyright. We’ll be able to explore: What is the value of a song? What is the true value of Bob Dylan singing ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ 60 years after he wrote it, in this environment? And we’re gonna find out. “But the intention has always been to create a new one-of-one program. In fact, what I’m trying to do is enter a music space in the fine arts market. Because music is to the United States as wine is to France - it’s the most valuable and important part of our culture. And for the last 25-30 years, we’ve had parts of the audience telling us that we ought to put our music out for free. This is a chance for us as artists to work at complete autonomy. It’s something both Bob and I have done to the degree we could for our whole lives, but this is a chance now to do it not just for Bob, but for many other artists who are gonna do this with us, who’ve already signed up. With any luck, this is the way I’ll spend the rest of my working life, doing these beautiful one-of-one pieces of high art.”

Thank you for providing this. Always great to hear a new interpretation of a Bob classic by Bob. Many thanks. I do think it is telling as to what T-Bone said: “it would be easier to release one for a ($)million than a million for ($)one” That sums up why these things are bad for the spirit of music and the heart of the song. Id like to think the proceeds would go to a hungry Ukrainian. Maybe that is what I should think. I wish that Bob and his band would go into the studio and re-record new interpretations of classic and deeper cut Dylan songs. An albums worth. Would be wonderful. Closest we get is the film Shadow Kingdom. And I can watch that for free. Baffling release for the listening public and Im glad it leaked. Thats more rock n roll than the recording itself.

Yep; well said. I've been listening to Bob since '71 and I must say that his mercenary spirit (exhibited many times in the recent past) is washing away the good will from earlier years. T Bone is a charlatan based on his comments about this millionaire's project.

I don't know if this is the same performance captured on the T-Bone Ionic disc, but it's consistent with Dylan's presentation of his music in recent years live. Does anyone know if the proceeds from the Christie's auction went to any worthy cause? Or is it really just T-Bone and Bob raking it in? I would LOVE to hear a Dylan album produced by T-Bone, in any case. Think of Elvis Costello's "King Of America" record. Mr. Burnett brings out the Americana in everyone he works with. And..don't forget how much live and studio work he's done with Dylan already (just not as producer). Thanks for posting this, Mark.

It reminds me of the days in the late 1960's, when a bootleg tape would emerge. The worse the sound quality, the better it was! We liked the mystery, which was enhanced by the bootleg quality. This tape reminds me of a good audience tape, which it obviously is. We hope Crystal Cat comes out with a top quality 2022 concert tape and has this as a bonus track, somehow in better sound.

This is NOT the 'iconic' recording but an outake of the 'corona' show... The 'real' recording has a Stroh-violin in the refrain line. This recording here has no violin at all. In an interview with Burnet the interviewer calls the violin a 'ghost-violin', which is misheard Stroh-violin, which is named at the sleeve-text of the original. Burnet published the soundtrack without Dylan singing.
