I wasn’t raised Jewish and our family wasn’t really religious… I didn’t embrace Jesus Christ until really quite a few years later! I got baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alaska when I was 45!!!! I thought I did not have to go through Jesus to get to the Father(our Heavenly Father!!!)!!!! Thank you very much for this historical portrait of one of my most favorite musicians. I absolutely love Slow Train Coming and it's still very relevant and pertinent today (in some ways even more so). I think it's one of the best albums ever. I do pray for Dylan now and then when he crosses my mind and I am inspired to do some more often after listening to your show. I think Bob Dylan would love listening to Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jewish believer who was also, frankly, quite prophetic. Bob Dylan will always have a special place in my heart. For all the phases of his life, which produced wonderful lyrics and music. Only God knows the true state of our souls, but I can see no reason to think that Bob is not still Saved. I have heard a few of his critics, but some of them have no idea who he really is as an artist anyway, and are just picking apart a few things he once said. I know Jesus showing up in his hotel room speaks volumes about the Lord's unfailing Love. But nonetheless, we all need prayer in our walk with the Lord.❤

I am so happy that you did this piece on Dylan and every fan should pray for him because he did an interview with Ed Bradley and he seemed to be saying that he had to hold up his end of a bargain he made with the “Chief Commander of this World and in the Next” and it seemed like he was talking about Satan to me. But, I know he is a Christian and belongs to Jesus Christ and that the Lord will not let go of him-ever! He will never leave you nor forsake you! Deuteronomy 31:6, 1 Chronicles 28:20, Isaiah 41:10-13, Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5-6, and Greater is He that is in thee than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. I wrote Dylan a letter awhile back to tell him this but it came back wrong address. My husbands very first gift he ever gave to me when we fell in love was Street Legal and I was hooked. What a lyrical genius-insane amount of talent! My husband was the first Dylanite in our area and he got all the guys in the seminary hooked on Dylan and the priests, too! Lol Anyway, Bob Dylan, if you ever read this, you must understand, you belong to Christ, so come on home, your soul has already been paid for with the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Yeshua, the Anointed One and yes, I am sure about that! Grace, Grace, GRACE!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

@@ArthurRobins I am not a God hater and how you can read my previous post about Dylan asking people to pray for him and stating that God will never let go of him and infer that I hate God is beyond me! He stated in that interview that he, and I quote “It goes back to that destiny thing, and I made a bargain with it, you know, long time ago, and now I’m holding up my end….to get where I am now.” Bob Dylan. When asked with whom he made the bargain, he stated “With the chief commander, in this earth and in the world we can’t see.” When he said this, he didn’t seem like he was talking about God here, and in light of so many in Hollywood and the music industry industry admitting they “sold their souls to Satan” to achieve fame and fortune, one is left wondering who Dylan was referring to and left to their own opinions. Satan is over the earth as clearly stated in Ephesians 2:2., 1 John 5:19, Luke 4:6, Matthew 4:8-9, John 12:31, though God will bring this all to an end and those who accept Christ have the only hope of escaping satan.

Christians are not the brightest people in the world. They see the world in a simplistic binary fashion of good vs. evil, Jesus vs. Satan. Everyone knows this because they are very loud and aggressive and never shut up. They cannot be talked to or reasoned with. When Dylan went "Christian" most of his fans were very puzzled and disappointed. Dylan to them represented rebellion against the powers that be, religion and the government. Dylan was a great artist and songwriter, but he really never was an intellectual. My theory is that he was burned out, stressed out, and experiencing an identity crisis. It's well known that people in this state are open to brainwashing and programming, and they'll latch on to anything that gives them peace of of mind. That said I'm still a Dylan fan because he has written so many great songs. Christianity is a very old ideology and imbedded in Western Civilization, so it must be reckoned with. There are many types of Christians, some are harmless and do good things like help homeless people, but some are actually proto-fascists who don't believe in separation of church and state, don't believe global warming is real or serious, and are exploited by the extreme libertarian Capitalists whose only agenda is to loot and pillage the Planet until it is completely devastated beyond repair. (I guess this comment turned into a rant, but everything I said is correct).

I found myself, at 17 years old, taking on all the ‘different’ Dylan’s at once. Id just started obsessively listening to all the early records and the ‘goes electric’ stuff and my first chance to see Dylan live popped up with the Shot Of Love tour, in Earl’s Court London. I jumped at the ticket anyway, even though I had (at the time, anyway) reservations about the apparent ‘new’ direction. The sound of the band (and the concert) was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but for me it was a ‘slow train’ too after that, as it took me most of my adult life to fully realise my intense need for faith. Bob’s music has remained a constant but now, I love those ‘evangelical’ albums just as much as all his other records. I agree though that so many of the Biblical themes have always been a part of his work. So I would just thank that person who threw the cross on stage in San Diego. One simple act, traveller far and touched a lot of people.

I have been curious about Dylan's journey. Back in the late 70's he came to my hometown Worcester, Ma. and did a concert in the city's auditorium that held about 4k people. He go booed by his fans in the audience who were shouting out for him to play his big hits he was best known for. He responded with gospel emphasis mentioning the the lamb of God, His blood for remission of sins etc.. I didn't have a ticket to go but I tried to hook up with him by calling all the area hotels and hoped to invite him to my home, but was unsuccessful reaching him. I recently went to the movie about him the day after Christmas, simply because I wanted to get any info about his spiritual status. Nothing was hinted at in the movie because hit covered his pre-professing Christ days only. i was glad to watch this video clip you posted and to hear that he started reading the Word in a 2022 you quoted him saying. I am a 'revivalist' myself in that I preach in the streets to hundreds of homeless, drug addicts, substance abusers ... usually twice a week. I play on my PA system Dylan's song; 'You gotta serve somebody' and love to follow it up with Jesus' words, "No servant can serve two masters...' I'm a big fan of George Whitefield an 18th century outdoor evangelist who preached to 100's of thousands all over the east coast in a period known as the Great Awakening. "He breaks the power of reigning sin, He sets the prisoner free, His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.'

God bless Bob Dylan. Such an honest troubadour! I believe none of us really understand this conscious causation of our perception of physical phenomena; yet it (and I say, “it” because our loving Creator, in my humble opinion, is not a man nor a women. This pure thought, infinite and eternal and all loving unnameable one, draws us toward it with an inevitable embrace of love and infinite joy! I believe the intimacy of our experience of this all encompassing love is as close as a small silver cross being thrown on Bob Dylan’s stage and as confounding to suspect the final glory is perhaps eons away when the entire universe, our entire awareness of creation, “loves one another as I have loved you.”

Many of his songs are biblical, though many may not have caught it. All Along the Watch Tower for one. It's my impression that Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands is another. He seems to have understood Jesus better than most Christian pastors. That's what it means to have a personal relationship with the Lord. After being saved over 30 yrs, I've recently had a profound, supernatural experience with the Lord. I should have kept it to myself because my family thinks the cheese slid off my cracker. I know the truth so that's ok. People that scoff at the idea Jesus might have been in Bob's presence at some point obviously dont know the Lord. It's crazy to believe the God that created everything could do that. I didnt hear you say he saw Him. He said Jesus touched him & he felt it. Anyone that think his talent isnt God given, doesnt know God. If you havent gotten into the Moody Blues, at least the early stuff, you should. Whole albums telling stories of Gods relationship with the human race. Watching & Waiting for example is God speaking to us. Traveling Eternity Road.

Bob, signed with Columbia yes ,but the debth in witch everyone can hear, well not everyone. Some are closed off, adrift, lost in their own dillusion,a ship with out a sail. Having grown up in a non Christian household, and later, a devoted Christian household, i can say the latter was and is encouraging and of hope and one of blessings. Bob's interaction, as he speaks of in interviews, specifically ,Ed Bradley's 60 minutes, was one of insight and few words, to the one decision he made with the creator of the heavens and the earth. One must know and read between those lines to truly compare his writings to his life work to the examples he's lead, only to know it was his commitment to God, that he would play these songs and continue these new messages that he was asking for, and that he would not become a silent past matter, he was looking for direction, lost in his feelings of a failed marriage, and sincerely open to the light and direction of lay down your old ways and pick up the cross ,that being a new way of writing with the same destination as previous, but with a promise in hand. Jesus! I met Bob once, on a journey, a series of dates, i thought i had more to say that would reflect something of importance his work meant to me, but i simply asked for "just a hand shake Bob". 7 in 10 days and i truly enjoyed that experience. Now i have choices in this road i travel, when and where, who to align with. But as for the troubadour, i know he's the real deal, and my belief is too. Cheers to all those who keep looking up.

The way I remember it Bob Dylan not only converted, but settled down in Sacramento CA and started a full time ministry! I distinctly recall reading a news article all about it in the late 70's. Of course there's no evidence of this now.. ah the joys of false memory Mandela effects. Anyway thanks for the update to this current timeline :) God Bless

Always was amused how angry some fans got that Dylan was creating and recording gospel music. I love his gospel music. Every grain of sand. Is a stunningly beautiful song.

Messianic Jews are those who've come to believed Jesus is the Jewish Messiah that Jews were awaiting and yet didn't recognize. I love that Bob got saved in Tucson, my home for 22 years❤❤. I didn't know that! I saw him during a Christian tour on the Cape around 1980 and again in the early-mid 90s in Tucson. Thanks for a great story. I can't wait to meet up with him in heaven 🎉. One of my favorite songs is Highway 61 Revisited - listen to the lyrics on that one!!😅

❤ I prayed for him back in the 70s when I got saved I prayed that he would receive Jesus and know who Jesus is and receive him as his savior. Thank you, Jesus.❤

Mario Murrillo and Bob connected back in 1978 and the rest is History.

Please add to what you are implying. I remember Mario Murrillo and back in the 70's there was so much 'Biblical God ín the air - on TV, radio - to the point that you could not miss it. Late greta planet earth - the movie and the book - led me directly to purchasing a bible in a normal book store. The same one where I would buy a girlie magazine now and then but I did buy a king James bible - and that was the next track to be laid on the road back from the wilderness. A journey the continues…

Great video, I’m wondering if the motel pictured, do you know for sure that was the specific hotel or did you just used the photo because it was good. I’m a Dylan aficionado, Christian and I live near Tucson and I did not know his conversion happened here. Saved was such a great underrated album with such great gospel songs.

Love the video. @11:40 a critic from the San Francisco Chronicle Panned Bob's Christian music. Hmmm I don't suppose that critic could have been Jewish could he? What I recall of those days was that Christians loved his Faith albums and the Critics, all Jews, hated them. Soon as Bob started veiling his Born again message, and started composing songs like "Neighborhood Bully" the Jewish Critics all returned to the Dylan fold.

Too slow no, don't need the background on Bob Dylan ...get to the story plz..I came to Christ myself late 77...as an avid music lover ...I had started listening to Bob's lp 'Street Legal'. I started praying for Bob after my own conversion..and shortly after . purchased a copy of 'SlowTrain'..so Influential on my self as a song writer. Much later I recorded an instrumental version of I believe in you which was taken from this album.. I even sent it off to Bob's music company who sent me a nice acknowledgment.😊 This was around 2010s...

Bob wasn't born to be a church worship leader, but to show the world that Jesus can break through as He likes. Dylan says silly, even contrary things ; but he went to The Cross, accepted salvation and is now free to do as he likes. Wish he'd be more aggressive re the world's need for Jesus, but isn't that between him and God?

"Every Grain of Sand" is one of his very best songs. "Shot of Love" was, however, not as good as "Slow Train Coming" & "Saved".

While I am personally against evangelicism, I experienced Dylan's Christian music more as him simply sharing his own experience with faith. I loved his Christian songs--my most favorite song is I Believe in You. I felt through that music that Dylan was at peace and still very creative. The only other time he was that happy was his early Woodstock period with Sara and the children, but he wasn't so creative then.

Where is there more information on Bob’s relationship with Keith?
@muimasmacho6 күн бұрын
I read that somewhere too. Keith was a major influence on me. His prodigal son suite is an absolute masterpiece, by all standards. I saw him perform live many times at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa back in the days. Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill were regulars as well. They don’t make music like that anymore. They were truly gifted.
