To hear Johnny laughing as he's singing whilst Dylan plays with random names of towns, and he joins in with "Duluth", put a big smile on my face. That first verse is really nice.

Rochelle Hannan oh you miss the point of this It’s not about getting it perfect it is 1st take which is basically the same as a sound check!!! If you record you know that messing up lyrics or the music happens to even the best artists. So once Johnny knew that it was not going to be “the one” he had fun with it started to name other places on purpose such as Hibbing which is Bob’s home town! Lol The love , friendship and playfulness between them is the whole point of this video!

One of the greatest singers in their genre to ever exist, with the greatest lyricist and folk singer to exist. Its a magical moment in music history. There are so many musical "milestones", but this was the one that created such a beautiful crossover between "country"(back then was called rockabilly" and folk

This is fantastic.......you can hear how much fun it was for both of them and Dylan's vocals are syrupy sweet.....I loved this entire period for Bob vocally. The command and power of his vocals was amazing from the very beginning right through until his Saved album....nobody could put such playful, beautiful, or edgy emphasis on vocals like Dylan.....as kids, we'd try to sing along to the songs that touched are hearts and felt the depth of them in our souls.....he'd make you laugh, cry, feel anger, love, broken hearted.....whatever the song was about.....we'd feel it deeply......his vocals drove these powerful songs ....Dylan is the greatest singer songwriter of all time in my book because of it.

I've been a fan of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash for a long time. This is a Bob Dylan composition where he was heavily influenced by the songwriting style of Johnny Cash. I was also wondering where I could find this on CD, and I managed to find it, while I was looking for other music. I only saw Bob Dylan live. I did not see Johnny Cash live. However, I did see Roseanne Cash live. I think this makes perfect sense for Bob Dylan to venture into country music, based on what he was doing musically, prior to this in the 1960s. It's nice to have this bit of great music history shared with the world.

@@dwaynewladyka577 absolutely he revered johnnys songs...and it was mutual...look at the newport dylan show...john gave bob his own guitar... and i believe dylan started the country rock genere...starting with recording in nashville .which was unheard of by rock n roll acts in 66. he inspired grahm parker helped emylou harris get her start and i could go on...but i agree with u ...absolutely.....cheers dwayne theres a whole album of dylan cash duets that this came from ...in case u weren t aware......peace n love

Very fun video of two poets filling in the blanks as they go along! Love the 2 different rhymes for "Tennessee" at 1:36: Johnny-"Muskogee" and Bob-"History." In the photo at 2:38, Johnny resembles Bob's hero, Wood Guthrie...

Oh man, you men, I love this, thank you so much. My daddy played and sang along to Johnny Cash songs, then when my mom heard me playing Bob Dylan's vinyl 45 rpm Like A Rolling Stone on a small tabletop turntable, she said we had the same taste in music! I was chuckling when I heard them chuckle! I've seen Dylan perform many times, and last year's was great!
