@@eclecticNhectic That isn't "Rap" either; the form was called "Talking Blues," and Dylan got it from Woody Guthrie.
@jnagarya51910 ай бұрын
@@thirty2wins No, again: the form was called TALKING BLUES, which Dylan got from Woody Guthrie. And there are differences: "Rap" is based on the false assumption that poetry is all about rhyme, so it is over-rhyming without any actual substance. And it fails to communicate to those outside the slang-obscured subculture in which it originates. "Talking Blues" was plain language, sometimes funny story, sometimes serous protest -- but anyone not a child could understand it. And it subordinated rhyme for substance. Ignoring those basic facts is an unnecessary effort to "sell" Dylan -- and that is a minor track compared to others of his Talking Blues -- as "contemporary". In addition: "Tangled Up in Blue" is not even Talking Blues -- it is SUNG.

Great reaction. I'm glad you appreciated it. This song has always been a favorite of mine. This album is full of gems and is considered to be one of Dylan's best. Buckets of Rain is another track from this album that always seems to put me in a good mood. Dylan is a master at storytelling and three of his greatest are featured on this LP. They are: Tangled Up In Blue; Lilly, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts; and Shelter from the Storm. If you prefer his deeper, thought provoking writings that are packed with loaded verses, there are many from his catalog I could recommend. A short list that come to mind are: It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), Chimes of Freedom, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, and Desolation Row. These songs will certainly impress and will leave you thirsty for more. I hope you give them all the time and respect they deserve. Cheers!

Today it seems that people are always asking what genre a performer is in. In the 60s and 70s no one cared about genres and songwriters wrote and played the music that they liked. Dylan had so many different sounds that he is impossible to classify that way. With that said, this blues tune is an exceptional example of what a talented singer, bass player, drummer and slide guitarist can do without any special effects. It's on my playlist too.

Indeed it’s a kick ass song and album ( blood on the tracks). Dylan is a really unique artist, poet, musician, painter etc,,, there are many hits you can listen to from this Shakespeare with a guitar and harmonica: guess” I’m alright, Ma ( I’m only bleeding), All along The Watchtower, Like A Rolling Stone, Blowing in the Wind, Hard Rain and so on. He’s an encyclopedia and a vast catalogue of songs in many genres, there will be no punk, funk, folk rock, rap, and more without Dylan. An inspiration to many artists we heard from the 60s to today. As the late great George Harrison said : You’ll listen to Bob Dylan the next 500 years. And the great Roger Waters saying how bob’s song “ Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands” changed his life, Bruce Springsteen, the Beatles how they refine their songwriting after listening to Bob’s “ Freewheeling Bob Dylan Album for 3 weeks in a row, day and night. We’re lucky to live in this era of great music revolution. Thank you Polo ❤
