The weird thing about this song is that you never want it to end. It truly is a masterful performance.

When Gordon Lightfoot died Bob said "You never want his songs to end" and your comment perked up my ears!

When Ruthie says come see her in her honky tonk lagoon , where you can watch her waltz for free beneath her Panamanian room . And I say oh come on now you know about my debutant , she says your debutant knows what you need but I know what you want . Classic line

I'm really glad you selected this because I recommended it and "Like a fool I mixed them and it strangled up my mind and now people just get uglier and I have no sense of time" Bob was revealing psychedelic experiences to those who were "Experienced"!! Thanks Bob and Cimdy!!

Listen to how tight this performance is. Half of these guys had only just met and had not performed together. It's likely many of the Nashville studio musicians had never heard of Bob Dylan. 1966. Independent of the novel genius of his lyrics, the genre mixture of styles and technique on this album was ground-breaking and light-years ahead of other artists. Thank you for introducing Dylan to the unfamiliar (and bringing up the memories of those of us familiars).

Bob Dylans songs have been used by many other great artists, because both the lyrics and the melodies are so good. I can name just a few artists that has used his songs. F.ex. Jimi Hendrix and Manfred Manns Earth Band, but there are many more

The live version of this song on Hard Rain is easily one of his best songs ever, and that's saying a lot.

"Here comes the very part that wraps a spell around my heart \ It sets me wild to hear that loving tune again, those Memphis Blues" --WC Handy, 1914 Dylan interpolated the greats, sometimes with quite a few winks.

His live version of this song from the Hard Rain Colorado 1976 ABC TV concert is the best. So so cool. That live concert is also out on an Album/CD called "Hard Rain" such a great live album.

Yes, I have traveled on Interstate 10 numerous times from Lake Charles, Louisianna to Panama City, Florida. After traveling through the tunnel that goes underneath the port you are in Pensacola, Florida.
