I received many requests to upload the extra performances from the new Criterion release of the Rolling Thunder Revue documentary. I won't be able to upload the original versions of these due to copyright reasons, but I managed to edit together this little video using different clips from the documentary extras, as there were some great shots used as B-roll during the interviews of Larry "Ratso" Sloman, Martin Scorsese, and the film's editor. If you haven't already, I highly recommend picking up the Blu-Ray disc of this release. It is absolutely worth it: www.badlands.c....
Since the audio corresponding to this footage was officially released on The Bootleg Series Vol. 5, I could not upload any of the footage with its original audio. So, I found a similar performance (Madison Square Garden, New York - Dec. 8, 1975) and used some editing tricks to overdub it to this footage. However, we all know how Dylan's delivery varies substantially between performances, so I apologize for some awkward out-of-synch moments. Nonetheless, this is an awesome little peek into the magic and charisma that the Revue created. It seemed like a big surrealistic carnival.
Peace & Love,
~SP

Lyrics of the version featured in the audio (Swingin Pig adapted the audio of the New York version apparently to the video here which is from a different concert, you can obviously see that the lip-syncing doesn't fit in a few places). This version's lyrics are very much different than the studio version from Nashville Skyline. Here they are (hopefully correct): Throw my ticket in the wind Throw my mattress out there too Throw my letters in the sand But you got to understand That tonight I'll be staying here with you I could've left this town by noon But tonight I feel a some place new But I was feeling a little bit scattered And your love was all that mattered So, tonight I'll be staying here with you Get ready, 'cause tonight I'll be staying here with you Is it really any wonder? The changes that we run upon each other's heads You came down on me like rolling thunder Let my dreams on the river end I can hear that (lonesome) whistle blowin' I hear them sinners rollin' too If there's a traveller on the road Let him have my load 'Cause tonight I'll be staying here with you (x2) Thanks Swingin for, even when you mix different concert footage with different audio (which I'm not usually a fan of but it's understandable why you do it, because of copyright and other different reasons that might occur), you let it known which concert they come from always, which is really important for context. Even though fixing the footage nowadays is easier than ever thanks to the development of technology, thank you for still doing it, nonetheless. I'll try to message you privately soon, sorry, I am pretty busy recently.

Had the absolute privilege of attending 4 shows on that tour. If you saw the Scorcese documentary there is a scene at the ending of one of the concerts where a young woman is standing in the audience in a state of shock and then begins to cry. That was the way I felt after each show. I was too young to see Dylan in 66 with The Band and felt like I missed something that could never be captured again, so I know how people who missed this tour feel. Watching this video's brings all back again. We all are so fortunate to have them.

Was the most anticipated night of my life as I had become an avid fan at the age of 12 in 1967. At that time I never believed I would ever see him because he virtually never played. That all ended in 1974. I was sitting 10th row center surrounded in the audience by every NY celebrity at the time. Including Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, Elton John, James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ted Kennedy and his son, Johnny and Edgar Winter and I am sure others. Amazing show!

The stage backdrop was scenes of Israel from the Biblical time. Hand drawn looked like crayons kinda, crosses, a lady on a donkey, man walking next to her, palm trees, small building structures. On the Netflix Documentary Rolling Thunder Review San Antonio is listed on Cities played. It was a great show Roger Mcguinn,Joan Baez, people screaming for Joni Mitchell, she wasn't there. Soon after Dylan put out his three albums about God. When asked on the album following the three "no fourth album about God Bob?" Dylan said "even Jesus just preached for three years". The audio is from a different concert to the video so swingin had to do some editing to match up the audio a bit to avoid copyright

Thanks, merci, for posting, memories, I'm all teary-eyed, but also had to smile, the man, the music and backstage, we are SO fortunate to have any of these people after age 25! They live on the edge so that you and I might get a glimpse of that special land...Montreal! The city I wasn't born in, but lived in and love with all my heart. Take a bow too, MY CANADA INCLUDES QUEBEC. LOVE YOU BOB, JOAN, JONI, ALLEN ( RIP, we need you down here please reincarnate) and entire band and pooch! Those were the days, "it's not dark yet..." Namaste, Z.

These performances and the record ...which I heard first ..right after Desire ..knocked me out completely . Gorgeous songs and then these magnificent performances. I first paid attention to b dylan after watching the Press Conference of 1965 one year ago. He described himself a Song and Dance Man. After my intense research into a lot of his stuff.. It was perfect. But, ya know, the 2nd thing I watched was his Newport performance singing ...Tamborine Man. He was introduced by Pete Seeger, he was outside, his hair blowing in the wind with 4 mics. Their were the incredible millions of words, of course, but there was such power in the music... vocally and that rythmic hard stringed guitar that even with that song.. I wanted to dance. I played this on my phone when my husband was in the hospital and wanted to leave and get dressed and go before the results were in. I sang too and danced , yup , to Mr Tamborine from Newport and not one of the rotten nurses came in to tell me to shut up. And, btw, no one ever has done those Standards ( his 3 albums ) as imaginatively and beautifully as b dylan. Using the theremin, the pedal stringed guitar, the choices of phrasing, the wonderful tricky assortments of chords .. and individual notes. Each single word has heart. Even the original composers did not make these songs as beautiful as b dylan. They are powerful but not mushy. And btw, he has never sung a flat note thus far ...from any recording I have heard. His vocal abilities are amazing. His harmonies with Joan are gorgeous. He knows melody and harmony like no one else. When I first heard, One more cup of Coffee...I nearly fainted. Those vocal tricks were like sounds coming out of a synagogue in Queens NY. HE is "fey." = Other worldly Jane
