I don't care that he had a hard time getting strikes, the fact that he got the chance to pitch again at 90, while still being able to get it to the plate to begin with is impressive. Most people don't even make it to 90, let alone have the ability to participate in sports in any form. Bob Feller was amazing, and though he was an Indian, I hope he doesn't mind playing with the Angels now.

Well, not only that, he was throwing from the rubber, all 60 feet 6 inches from the mound to home, and most of his pitches were reaching the catcher without bouncing. That's legit.

Feller still loved putting on a uniform and pitching even at this age. He never really stopped pitching after he retired. He had a bounce back set up against his barn and would practice regularly for the rest of his life. I once heard that he may be the only person who was able to through 70+ mph at the age of 70. He actually said he thought he could throw 80 - but wouldn't try it because he "wouldn't be able to comb his hair for a month".

Bob Feller started pitching in the pros at 17. Here he is at 90. It's inspiring to see someone doing what they love and it's obvious Bob loved baseball. Thank you Mr. Feller for your service during WWII as well.

Cool Feller story. In the absolute hey day of baseball card shows, early 90s, my friend had Bob at his show in LA. He sends his brother to LAX to pick up Feller. Bob gets off the plane swinging a satchel (as though it weighed 5 pounds). He sets it down to shake hands with my friend. Can l help you with that Mr Feller (who is in his 70s)? Ok Tries to pick up bag, can't do it. (Damn this must weigh 70 lbs) Don't hurt yourself kid. 🤣🤣🤣 Let me do it. Goes back to swinging the bag. What's in there, Mr Feller? My books.

I got to meet him at his museum back in 2009. He was a very nice guy. It wasn't as busy as he expected it to be, so he took some time, and chatted with me. It was so interesting listening him tell me his game plan when he was to face Lou Gehrig, Joe Dimaggio, Ted Williams, etc.

I don't know why you want to trash him. He missed four years (save for nine games at the end of 1945) in the prime of his career, due to serving in the armed forces during World War II. He was averaging nearly 25 wins a season then, so he likely would have ended his career with around 350 wins, instead of the 266 with which he finished. Bob Feller was more than a great baseball player ... he was a true American hero. The Navy wanted him to teach phys-ed ... he wanted to see real combat. He served on the USS Alabama as a gun captain and rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
