I absolutely love this show. It is a nice lighthearted series based around good family values and positive work ethics. The interracial relationship explores how cultural differences can be overcome with clear communication and respect. It shows a way forward without losing core family values. ❤❤❤❤❤

@tokunbohodubanjo53018 ай бұрын
If Abishola’s dad has passed on, one of his brothers with whom Abishola or her mum do not have a close relationship may be chosen to represent him because he is the oldest of his surviving brothers. In that situation, he won’t have much to say, and if offered a lead role, he would likely decline. I have seen this happen on a number of occasions.

This reminds me of my marriage, except in reverse. When it came time to open gifts after the ceremony, the number of in-laws largely out numbered my own relatives and only bc most of my relatives fled to avoid my mother’s legendary temper. I hosted so many in-laws bc they deemed me family and none of them wanted my husband and I to suffer alone while my controlling mother criticized gift after gift. And don’t get me wrong, my mother-in-law was scary when we met, but she eventually accepted me and gave me her blessing to marry her only son.

Finding Abisholas mother to be ridiculously annoying & overly aggressive & bossy! After reading the other comments yeah ok, but I still find myself feeling blah towards the mother!!! Take a break from your overly bearing self! Abishola is a full grown woman & has a rt to speak for herself in her life situations. Apparently the Nigerian culture isn’t being correctly represented! Hmm.

Unrealistic though. That in a Yoruba familly the father will be rendered dumb and relegated to the background while the mother will play such a dominant role when the parents are together and the father alive. I wish these screen writers will at least try to get the facts right.

This is so true. Even if the father is no longer alive, the role will go to another elderly male relative. Never the woman. It is simply our culture. They need to get some facts right.
