Bob put up with a lot before he got after Sabre! Great job Bob! You did a good move to out these two together. Painted Desert Ranch in AZ turns their 10 stallions out together for the winter. They are well socialized. Not many breeders are in a position to do that, and the stallions get very limited life experiences. The owner of Sabre is going to really appreciate what you are doing for her and her horse!! Bob, on the other hand, may have a few words for you!!
@randomvielleuse5279 ай бұрын
I thought immediately of a video from a Lipizzan stallion breeding barn where the first time the stallions were all turned out together (about ten or so) there were a few minutes of squealing, sniffing and showing of heels... and then they started grazing and that was it. No fights, no nothing. Of courses there's wasn't a mare anywhere near by but still.

There is a lovely legend called "the turkey prince " Saber is like the young prince who sits under the table pretending to be a turkey. A wise man finally cures him by sitting under the table with him, pretending to be a second turkey. Bob is teaching Sabre to come out from under the table and become a horse instead of a flighty fowl.

When I was a kid, we had a couple of stallions come though. The Morgan was always a gentleman. A thirteen year old's dream! I got to ride a stallion! He was gelded in order to bring him to shows at other facilities. The other was a Thoroughbred. He was gelded because he wrenched his back after breeding and wasn't useable for months. Good Times!

My 19 year old gelding is babysitting and teaching my young filly. She gets so flustered when he corrects her. 😂 she tends to be a spicy jalapeño and wants her way so when he gets after her she tries to kick at him but he’s too tall for her. He’s always been a bit more dominant himself and doesn’t put up with her shenanigans. Though he hasn’t been mean, just gets his point across.

As a stud, was Sabre only introduced to mares? He would presumably have acted dominant with them? Looks like he’s trying to figure out if Bob is some new type of female 😂. You sure he’s been properly gelded?
@suzanneyoung80119 ай бұрын
He probably only got to see or be in close proximity to a mare at breeding time (assuming he was actually used as a breeding stallion). He may never have actually mounted a mare since most breeding is done by artificial insemination.
@katiedotson7049 ай бұрын
It takes weeks for the testosterone to flush out of a stallion's system. And if the horse had been bred, he still remembers the "good times" for quite a while.
@casdragon_59399 ай бұрын
Usually, studs are only out with other horses when breeding, so yes, they're mares. They go into breeding mode when they see any other horse at liberty. Saber defaulted to that since it's the only behavior he knows around other horses.

He uses homophones, because that induces people who watch his videos to leave comments like the one you did, which alerts the KZbin algorithm to increase the number of pop ups advertising Tim’s videos on other people’s phones. That way Tim makes more money. I’m not making this up. Tim has said exactly this before on other videos. And it works!
@Sine-gl9ly9 ай бұрын
Poor Sabre really isn't good at taking a hint in horse-ish at all, is he? Bob is patient initially, but Sabre's endless nonsensical chatter, overreaction and rude intrusiveness quickly starts to irritate him ... It strikes me that Bob's like an Englishman or a German, and Sabre's the over-excited American tourist, overwhelmed by his first visit to Europe!
@marilynbridges86979 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what they are talking about, but I doubt it was about the wrong words. You call them homophones, but I call them irritating, sorry. I shut off suggestions and spellcheck because of that.
@epona91669 ай бұрын
Agree. I didn't realize the spelling errors were on purpose (that went right over my head) until I messaged Tim and got a return email explaining the joke. Still more annoying than amusing imo.
@fleetskipper18109 ай бұрын
When people leave comments about the homophones, it induces the KZbin algorithm to send more pop-ups to other people’s phones. Tim makes more money that way. He has said as much on his other videos. In other words, he’s training us to help him out. Clever!

@clayoreilly45539 ай бұрын
It would have been dangerous to keep that horse as a stud, imo. He may still be too "studdy" for regular people to handle him.
@Sine-gl9ly9 ай бұрын
It takes many weeks, even, sometimes, months, for testosterone levels to reduce to those of a gelding. Sabre was cut a bare month ago, so it is unfair to judge him at this stage. FWIW, I don't think his behaviour is dangerous at all. He is spooky in unfamiliar environments because he has had vanishingly-little exposure to the real world.
@casdragon_59399 ай бұрын
He's very tame for a stud (going off their first video); I've seen mares worse than he is!
@Sine-gl9ly9 ай бұрын
He's not dangerous - just mentally immature, hence spoomy, due to his previous lifestyle. Give him several weeks for his hormone levels to reduce, and time for him to learn that the big, new, interesting world out there isn't out to get him all the time, and he'll be fine.
