I'm sure Katter is a great guy to have a beer and a laugh with, but that does not a good politician make. And that is something that we have to get past in Australia. I don't want my elected officials to be "the guy I have a beer with next door", I want my elected officials to have a firm grasp of international relations and social and economic policy to ensure Australia's prosperity going into the future. I don't want an ideologue, or someone who is pushing the politics of 'division', rather than the politics of 'unity and progressivism'. It may not be glamorous, or ever relatable, but it is absolutely necessary to ensure Australia's future and quality of life going forward. Our politicians don't need to be our 'mates', but our 'leaders', and 'leaders' do what is necessary, not what is populace.

You’ll find a mix of current affairs and comedy all over the world, late night shows in the US have been around for decades. You mightn’t agree that they are informative, but that is simply not true, they contain “some” information, that’s just fact. Not to mention that most news is barely informative, and filled with paid product placement now. As for their comedic value, well they aren’t my favourite, but clearly people like the shows, hence the ratings success and the gold logies. Not super informative or super funny but it’s a formula that works.
