Nice vid. Insight is the best spool IMHO. light, efficient, looks great. Yes I have shot and do own other spools (cs1, cs2)

I enjoy your reviews. Very informative and unbiased. I think you were about spot on with this one, I really miss my Insight with the Rhino mod. Oh well I have a Russian Legion Gen1 Marq and a Gmek/Gtek. You also gained yourself another subscriber.

I use to have an insight (GI Victus) several years ago as apart of a "sponsorship" agreement. I am a big fan of Bob Long (Field One). I own two BL markers (1) G6R-OLED and (2) VCOM-VIS.
@QTPaintball5 жыл бұрын
There is honestly just something about them. I was almost entirely PE, dabbled with SP, DLX, Dye, with Zero Bob markers. Now I have a G6R, had a Phase, Insight, Trex, and now Force. Like I said I dont know what it is, but they are great markers. Can't wait to see more about this new G7R (if thats what they call it)

great review. I reviewed and defended the insight on my channel before the reflex came out. This was so detailed and well done. When an insight is properly tuned it is a hard platform to beat. perfect flat shot and you can shoot almost a case of a full 68. I miss owning insights. I may pick up one with reflex just for shits and gigs. STILL the best looking bobs in my opinion.

there is definitely a pressure tester for this gun. it fits insights, phases, onslaughts and victus

what is the Phase's stock bolt? Is it something other than the Reflex?
@QTPaintball3 жыл бұрын
I don't believe the Phase was initially released with the reflex engine. I don't believe the OG engine had a name. It was always referred to as the insight's engine

Awesome vid brother! Ya like this gun better than the syx ? Jw
@QTPaintball5 жыл бұрын
No, the Phase is a great marker, but the Syx is a better marker. Modern markers just have conveniences to them that make the more favorable. The Syx is low key one of my very favorite markers out. I have an X right now and I would hold on to the Syx over the X. Maybe thats just me, but that marker is terribly overrated. Better offerings for half the price. Thanks for the comment!

@@QTPaintball I had a nice long post written out and then this piece of crap KZbin app crashed…. I didn’t feel like writing it all again. But seriously, the Insight is was Bob Long’s first attempt at a pure spool valve marker? WHAT?! His whole Marq line line were pure spool valve markers, the VCOM, the Victory etc. all spool valve markers. Also the first Insight didn’t “have issues”, o-rings aren’t exact and vary in size, the back half of the valve kept coming unscrewed because the o-ring manufacturer decided to make them at the very small end of the tolerance. The fix was to use bigger o-rings and “squish” them when screwing it together and maybe a drop of blue loctite helps as well. After that? No issues. The reflex engine are for those that can’t lube their marker after every full day of play… so he modified the engine to require less lubing. 🙄
@QTPaintball2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, I could be wrong, but I believe you're mistaken the marq platform were inline poppets, not spool. If you can let me know where the marq line changed, please let me know. I'll happily take a look at it, as may be I'm not aware of a change he made. My background of the issues on the initial insight release, though brief, was correct. They were indeed tolerance issues whether machined or needing a larger oring. The changes to the reflex were to create redundancy adding an extra oring at the shut off, which helped improve isolation between the supply and rearward stroke. Also, it added support to the tail of the shaft.

@@QTPaintball I’m referring to the “2nd generation” of the Marq which were so many guns that still had the “Marq” name hidden but people just never called it a Marq. I forgot what engine I have for my Victory 2 that’s a spool valve but I’ve had it for ever 10 years, now Bob said he “developed” the VCOM (or is it called the Marq VCOM 😉) and the Insight both at the same time but came out with the VCOM first. It was in one of his videos where he introduced the Insight on his “Robert Long” KZbin channel. I remember that being the selling point of the Victory, “it can have BOTH a popit AND a spool valve all in one marker!”… However on the “tolerances” with the Insight it was not the issue of the metal parts, BL had to change the tolerances on the Insight to compensate for the horrible tolerances o-ring’s have and on his video he said the tolerances on the o-ring’s he used changed and swung completely to one side of the “allowed variation” of the tolerance and when the back half of the valve wasn’t “dead-on balls tight” the tolerances went beyond what would seal. I blame o-rings and their loose specs for that. Blue loctite along with a fatter o-ring “squished” tight completely resolved the issue but that’s not a “professional” resolution to things, at least one that Bob was comfortable with. To me that’s an o-ring manufacturing tolerance issue, not a machining metal issue. O-rings have a reputation for swinging wild in tolerances and sometimes beyond that spec.

@@frankthespank Your comment stating that the Marq platform was made up of pure spool valves was incorrect. As they most definitely started as poppets valves and continued for many iterations. As you said the VCOM and Insight came out within months of each other. An argument could be made that the insight came out first. You could also say that the Insight was Bob's first stab at a stand alone spool valve based marker. I have great respect to Bob and what he did, but lets be honest his tolerances were never great or perhaps consistent. You can blame it on poor oring groove design, machining, QC, or orings. Why did he ever have to recommend using dow55 on multiple markers? To ensure orings swelled to compensate for poor extrusion. He had great markers, but he and his fellow designer, I believe Jason, could have executed things better. Not a knock on his legacy, but some truth I'm sure if he could do it again and improve upon.

and DO NOT USE DOW 55 on the shaft. use any "normal" paintball gun lube, dow 33, monkey poo, etc.
@QTPaintball5 жыл бұрын
You're right, according to the manual. I thought the lube that came shipped with my phase was Dow 55. It certainly didn't resemble Dow 33 that I was used to. Was more oily. Though when I did use 55 when I didn't have factory lube it did seal a tad more quicker haha. Thanks
