I think a lot of people listen to Bob Marley for pleasure or because he has a higher vibrancy than most artist. In other words, the ability to make people's days with his songs and tunes. A lot of people don't see that Bob Marley's music is a lot more this song isn't only about getting up and standing up for your people, yourself and your country. He's telling us to get up, realize what life is. Marley says "I know you don't know, what life is really worth". Meaning a lot of people don't see the power they hold between there veins. Power given by God to do good and make change. Marley's music isn't only political it's spiritual. Music for the soul. A lot of people think what we need to change is the community, in reality we need to change our hearts. We are the community, how long will it take us to realize that? Individually we are the reason that the world is how it is, you cannot control others but you can control yourself. Every interaction you have influences the person you are talking with. Make that interaction a good one. Allow people to realize their lives are in their hands. We are our thoughts, our mind, our emotion and our soul. Only we can control ourselves.

* First of all, I can't get over the start up of this song. The drumming; guitar; the Wailers; the timing; Bob Marley's tone and sound is absolutely astounding! I can hardly believe how great this song is so many years since I first heard it as a teen. What a memorial moment that must of been for those in the audience to have experienced live. His music is still 'live' and current today! The distinct drumming style of Carlton Barrett is missed and unmatched!

So can i hear what he is singing?So my brother put it on for me,and wow i felt that..get up stand up music,and loved it,asking my brother..what they call this music..he sayd reggea..so wenn i wass like 15 or 16 was surching for Bob Marley, and was all into reggea music ..listend to other reggea musicians loved it also like peter tosh,dennis brown,culture,and more...but my number 1 will always be Bob Marley..helped me in good times,bad times,his music and lyrics made me feel good,its not onley reggea music.. its more ..i wish i had meet him ...but unfortunatly never happend,now i'm 65 and love reggea forever...Jah Bless Robert Nesta Marley..his music will never go❤

It took me 30 years to realise what Marley was really saying in his music and wow, do I love his songs now. Lyrics like this are as relevant now in 2020 as they were when they were written. Music with meaning will always be better than manufactured pop garbage.
@davidwilliammusic3 жыл бұрын
Soon after getting into his Music I intuitively felt he was communicating something I hadn't encountered from any other artist. A year or two later people like David Icke and Eckhart Tolle came into my path and I realised they were all expressing the same thing in their own unique ways. Bob is always with me.
@keithsimpson63863 жыл бұрын
@@davidwilliammusic EXACTLY, I’m happy there’s others who noticed. This man, Eckhart Tolle, Edgar Cayce, Robert Monroe, and other people who have really explored their own consciousness/been in tune with something beyond the physical are all saying the exact same thing in different ways. Eastern disciplines have been saying this stuff for thousands of years, it’s really fascinating.
@davidwilliammusic3 жыл бұрын
@@keithsimpson6386 Yeah, what set Bob apart from other musicians for me and what I was intuitively picking up but not realising till a little later was the fullness. Other artists from the 60s and 70s like The Beatles explored that same thing but with someone like John Lennon, who I greatly respect, I always felt he came in and out of it. Neil Young touches on spiritual truths as do others out of the hippie era but with Bob it feels complete and so there is an extra power and authority to his Music. Once he discovered this Truth, he fully committed and lived his whole life that way, not just preached it or hinted at it. The only others I've come across like this are in other fields, like writers and speakers.

A lot of '70s bands were either about sex 'n' sleaze, or about witchcraft, or this 'n' that, but Bob Marley taught us some truth! He found out just what the Powers-that-be were up to, and he exposed them, big-time! Sadly, less than two years, maybe only a year, after this footage was recorded, Bob Marley passed away from Cancer at only 36 years old. We love and miss you, Bob! Don't worry, though...we be jammin'!!! Peace and love!!!!!

If Peter Tosh had written the whole song as some claim, he would have sung all the verses. Let's be serious, the literary style of the first two stanzas is pure Marley: short verses, composed of simple, raw and direct words. I may be an idiot, but the person who wrote "preacherman, don't tell me heaven is under the earth. I know you don't know what life is really worth" in 1973 and "I feel like bombing a church now that you know that the preacher is lying" (Talkin' Blues) in 1974 can only be the same person. The logical sequence is there, obvious and undeniable.
