I'm a poor white boy from the Midwest and somehow Bob Marley found his way into my life and gave me a greater appreciation for singer-songwriters Bob and I really don't have that much in common but music is a universal language and Bob was fluent in it my late best friend Derek introduced me to him and a lot of other good music he's been gone 13 years now he would have loved to see them make a biopic finally I haven't seen it yet I just hope they do him proud

My brother loved to send me music and he would send me this, among many other songs. I always saw people commenting about losing a relative and remembering them through song, but I never though I'd be one of them... I learned my brother died this morning, 32 years old, and I came back to the playlists he made for me. This really hits home... 💔

Bob at his most soulful, the crowd nearly drowning him out singing along, the searing guitar break by Al "Yasha" Anderson - perhaps the best live recording I've ever heard.

I'm a Taiwanese, and I'd been an expat for almost a year in Caribbean because of certain volunteering. In Caribbean, this song and "One Love" were everywhere! and so it's been one of my all-time favorite songs. Nowadays, Reggae music is not surround me anymore, since it is really not mainstream in Taiwan. However, I still listen to Bob Marley's or Third World's songs especially during tranquil nights, feeling extremely nostalgic and missing the distant islands on the other side of Earth.

As I read the newspaper after school before lunch, I burst into tears. When my mother asked what was wrong, I sobbed, “Bob Marley is dead.” She didn't even know who Bob Marley was. But after his death he became more and more popular in the mainstream in Germany. Unvergessen.

I remember, way back in the dawn of time, when I was a young guy and the world was shining like the Sun and one day my pal, Jasper, dropped by, just as I was rolling up a little number, and he says, I got a record, and sits down and pulls an LP out of his shoulder bag and I remember all those colors on the cover and a beatific smile, and we light the joint and step inside and he goes over to the record-player and puts this song on and we go out and share the joint on the doorstep and listen to Bob sing this song so full of soul. We stayed on the stoop and listened. That was fifty years ago. Thank You, Jasper. Thank You, Bob. See you soon enough. Blessings! No Woman, No Cry!

This song comes from an actual event in his life. The line “no woman no cry” comes from real life struggle and either him or someone said it front of him. And he made a legendary ageless song.
