In 2024 this song hits me differently, and I've always danced to this tune. Best song ever! The colonists took many slaves to the islands, more were sold to island residents, than in all 13 colonies…lets stand together, and not need redemption songs… We still listen Bob, you fulfilled the book in many ways~

For me it's because the lyric speaks of the ultimate truth. "Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds...." Such a powerful lyric to this song and most of us are blind to the truth due to our conditioning in what society wants us to believe and perceive.
