The Buffalo Soldiers were indeed impressive warriors, many received medals and awards for their heroic service. Buffalo Soldiers were great negotiators with the various Indian tribes, and helped farmers come to terms in range war disputes. On September 6, 2005, Mark Matthews, the last surviving Buffalo Soldier, died aged 111. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, with honors for his faithful service. Bob knew, in 1976~

@Linet Akinyi there's never been said that it wasn't consentual.but father gave Bob his surname and that was about it.Also did the same for Bob's half sister. In other words he got what he wanted and when the two young Mums got pregnant he left them to bring his children up on their own and in poverty.Im almost positive this was mentioned in the movie about Bob Marley.I saw Mary being interviewed.Between his Father deserting and his uncle not lending him some to buy a car.I know the declining him inspired Bob to write Corner Stone. And as Mary said that is true Bob did become the corner stone.mention Marley Bob is the first Marley you think of.His cousin Peter(uncles son) had heard the song but never knew what had inspired it.

Said he was a buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta - Buffalo soldier in the heart of america. If you know your history, Then you would know where you coming from, Then you wouldn't have to ask me, Who the 'eck do I think I am. Today July 28th is National Buffalo Soldiers Day! These brave African-American men served from 1866, the year after the Civil War ended, to the Korean War when Executive Order 9981 desegregated the Army. They upheld the legacy of the courageous Civil War soldiers who fought for their freedom to make America a better place for all.

@@AshleyBlackwater I know, but you don't understand I'm also a damaged teen and trying to do my best to give my love and care for everyone just like MJ and Bob did. I am also one of the common people of the world who does not try to understand any good songs. But how do I know how to say all of these if I'm one of the awful common people ? They only want those songs which are so catchy and unpleasant songs just to show their coolness. Their are many awful raps nowadays but raps from Eminem and some Kpop raps are good. I don't understand Korean but their style of rapping is good. Bob's Reggae genre is very peaceful to here. And MJ's pop songs are so heroic and hilarious but they do not have a bad meaning. Good singers always tries to inspire everyone. I don't want to be a professional singer but I like music from these guys. Which is why I also wants to make inspiring songs to inspire others. But as a young teen how can I manage to do such things alone. Nobody Supports me. That's all I want to say. And if you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself first than make a change. 🌍 Michael Jackson once said this.

The Buffalo Soldiers were a group of all-black soldiers who got their nickname because US policy ordered them to target American Indians' basic economic base, the buffalo. The all-black cavalry in charge of killing the buffalo were dubbed Buffalo Soldiers by the American Indians they encountered. Some people think they were called Buffalo Soldiers because their hair looked like buffalo fur, while others believe it's because they were fierce fighters, like the mighty buffalo. Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz wrote a book called "An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States." She talks about something tragic: that some people expected African Americans and Native Americans to automatically be friends and fight against their common enemy, who they called "the white man." But history shows us that things were more complicated. For example, the Buffalo Soldiers were ordered to kill the buffalo, which had great meaning to the American Indians. This shows that oppressed groups sometimes ended up fighting against each other instead of working together. So, the nickname "Buffalo Soldiers" and Dunbar-Ortiz's book remind us that history is not always simple and that sometimes people who should be allies are made to fight against each other because of the problems caused by the dominant power’s influence and expansion.

So right. In some cases they intermarried but in others, the natives held them as slaves and even gave blacks and other free or runaway slaves back to the slave masters. It is not an easy history. However, apparently both reasons were given for calling the soldiers who were cavalry soldiers buffalo soldiers, as the natives thought they were fierce and excellent fighters and also because of the curly hair which was like that of the buffalo. Remember those soldiers were sent to 'keep the natives in their place', and to weaken them by destroying their fighting force warriors, and to corall them into reservations. They were the pioneer cavalry soldiers who were sent to do the dirty work before the white soldiers came. Buffalo soldiers also mapped the west, maintained and in some cases created the national parks and after the war continued to take care of the national parks.
