Both versions definitely get my body moving. To say one version is "WAY" better than the other is ridiculous; each version has its place in the musical odyssey of Bob Marley, and each version can reach your heart in different ways. You might prefer one version over the other at some point in your life, but to categorically assert one is objectively better than the other is a shallow and pedantic way to view music. I love the history and origin of Jamaican music. It is a beautiful mish mash of Caribbean and American music. They just fucked up the rhythm of the blues, and remove the swing and bam! Ska is born. Then they slowed it down, and boom! Rock Steady is born. Then they changed the rhythm of the guitar and keyboard into a bubble, I ran out of sound effects! you get Reggae. Which all happens in a few year span 1960 to 68ish. The Skatalites were supposedly the first one's to slow it down to get Rock Steady. But that is a part of the wonderful alure of Jamaican music. It is full of mystery. No one knows who fucked up the blues rhythm and straightened out the beat to get Ska in the first place. Same with slowing it down to get Rock Steady. But who cares, it changed the world

@@jcrewjem5394 one of the best comments on how things developed,it was duke ried who slowed the ska,which was known as ska-steady/rude boy ska,so its possible it would have been the baba brookes band, pre ska was know as shuffle beat,a mix of several music styles.ska was short lived because of the fast tempo,and the heat made dancers tired,thats why the ska was slowed
