THANK YOU! I am an "older" person who has always wanted to play guitar. so with the covid crisis going on I had some time... I borrowed a guitar from a friend two week ago.. and have been frustrated for two weeks. Then today I found your video. and an hour later i am making actual music! I really needed a "win" with the guitar and you gave me the information to do it. Thank you so much! I am now subscribed!!!

I love your lessons. You use minimal chords, basic strumming, lay it out in proper progression and demo it - you have me hooked - fantastic!

(y) Been playing 11 years, and in that time I have seen ALOT of tut videos on KZbin and this is by far the best I've ever seen I think. Why? THEORY EXPLAINED THROUGH PRACTICE. Not even my IRL guitar teacher knew how to do that, when I asked him why a fifth was a fifth it took him until the next lesson to work out how to explain it to me haha. You just do it as your playing to get people familiar. I got the rythem for this first time because of the way you just counted whilst playing one chord, I was even singing along as I played first time around! That's just credit to the well composed video. Lovely guitar too ;)

Fantastic! Thank you so much! Here are my notes: The song is in the Key of A Major, which is this: A B C# D E F# G# A The I, IV, and V chords are A, D, and E Note: A Major Scale has these steps: Whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half. The C Major scale has no sharps or flats: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C Refer to it if you forget the whole and half step sequence. The I, IV, and V chords of the C Major Scale are C, F, and G. The modified intro is this: 2nd string: frets 10, 10, 12, 10 1st string: frets 12, 9 2nd string, frets 12, 10 (repeat 4 times) I think it's ok to "cheat" and use any fingers; I use 1st and 4th Notes played in modified intro: B String: 10th fret A, 10 A, 12 B, 10 A E String, 12 E, 9 C# B String, 12th fret B, 10th A Note all notes are in the A Major Scale Strumming Pattern is Reggae style. 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & Knock on the guitar body on 1,2,3 and 4. Strum UP on each & Keep it nice and short. Note: Most rock music has the beats on the whole number counts with 8 8th notes, or counts 1 and 3 with 4 quarter notes (4/4 time). Reggae is "synchopated" with the beats on the "and" count for 8 8th notes, and on the 2 and 4 for 4 quarter notes counting. Note: He/you say "Slap the strings." I say "Knock on the guitar." The assumption is we would know something as simple as "slap the strings," but there isn't instruction, so, I'm not sure how to do it without making the strings sound notes. The guitar knock sounds good, so I'm sticking with that. Chorus: (6:19 in video) (knock) Don't (A ) worry, About a thing (knock) Cause (D) Every little thing, is gonna be all (A) Right. (knock-stay on A) Singing Don't worry, etc. Repeat. Chorus Summary: A (8 beats), D (4 beats), A(4 beats) Word chord switches: Cause(knock)-Every(D); All (knock) Right(A) Note: (8) is 8 strums, or 2 measures of knock-strum, knock-strum, knock-strum, knock-strum. Verse (9:06 in video) (A) Rise up this mornin' Smile with the (E) risin' sun Three little (A) birds Pitched by my (D) doorstep Singin' (A) sweet songs Of melodies (E) pure and true Sayin', (D) "This is my message to (A) you, whoo-hoo" Verse Chord Progression Summary: A-4 beats, E-4, D-4, A-4 then A-4, E-4, D-4, A-4. One line verse summary, 4 beats/chord: A E A D, A E D A

I know this video is a little dated so I'm late but you are very gifted. Not just with your voice and 🎸 playing (which are beyond amazing) but also with teaching. Not everyone can dissect a skill and break it down to a level in which a beginner can grasp the concept. Thank you, I've always wanted to learn to play.

Rob, Thank you so much! Your lessons are WONDERFUL! I am making incredible progress thanks to you and others here on you tube. I actually amaze myself! This Reggae version of this song was hard for me at first.....NOW....I revisited it...and it sounds FANTASTIC.....This particular song really HELPS my SINGING too.....(Its very easy to sing)! I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to improve their singing as well as guitar playing! You give 3 nice options for the intro....anyone should be able to play at least one version of that! For that "Slap".....I would describe it as a "Palm Muted, Scratch" on the down beat....Sound the chord on the UP beat! Rob.....YOU are a GREAT instructor! (Believe me....in the past I have dredged up some AWFUL instructors)! One told me....."I would NEVER ever be any good at guitar and I should just put it down and save my money and everybody else's ears".....He destroyed my DREAMS for years! Well....I am back on my dream....thanks to YOU ! I can't thank you enough! (And hey....it IS WORKING....I can actually call myself a "Musician" and a "GUITARIST" now)! You, have helped me achieve my dreams....it totally blows me away! THANKS AGAIN ROB! Oh and BTW: My name is Rob, also! Wow...the whole cosmic thing is really communicating now!

Awesome tutorial. Thanks so much. Seen it a bunch of times trying to learn this. I’m learning using barre chords. Barre chords feel more natural to me since muting is easier. Been 2 months of about 30 mins a day. Can’t say it’s great sounding since my barre chords aren’t clean all the time and my chord changing speed leaves a lot to be desired.

Fantastic lesson! I can now add this song to my list! Very Easy to learn! Sounds GREAT! I have one question. When you "slap" the strings....It actually looks as if YOU are doing a muted Down Stroke, for the slap? Just scratching the strings? Its amazing how tiny little things like that can change the whole sound of a song! GREAT LESSON......THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate the time you take to do these! OK.....NOW I see....(Looked at some of your other vids.).....The slap/scratching sound is just your plectrum hitting the bass string when you slap....
