The fact it took Boston 30 years to officially honor Bill Russell is so embarrassing

The city of Boston owes him. And it was a shame of how the Bostonians treated Bill Russell during his professional playing career. 11 world championships in 13 years. He's remember as a great athlete, great winner, and a great humanitarian. Rest in peace William Felton Russell #6. Long live and remember.🏀🇺🇸

The three numbers that the NBA should consider retiring are Michael Jordan's, Bill Russell's, and Kobe Bryant's. Those three to me, symbolize everything right with the NBA. If you want to know how to play the game correctly, those three are the poster boys

He wasn’t the first black player in his sport but from my understanding it seems he was more actively involved in civil rights movements than Jackie was
@Heraclitean2 жыл бұрын
@@NobleVagabond2552 Many players were activists. Frank Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, etc. How many of those numbers are retired league wide? The Jackie Robinson story was unique.

You gotta be trolling, he was the first black coach in professional sports, first all black starting 5, they literally changed the rules because of him and is the pioneer of modern NBA defense. Not to mention was a prominent civil rights activist who’s off the court contributions are felt throughout the sport today….. Just in case you weren’t trolling 😎

@@christianjames7193 There were many pioneering and socially minded players in different ways, at different times, around the league. We're not going to retire all their numbers league-wide. Nobody was calling for this a year ago or 5 or 10 years ago. Now that people are mourning and eulogizing Russell and their judgment is clouded, it's the thing to do. I'm calling BS.

Sports talking heads arguing for years Jordan, Lebron etc. All backseat to Russell.

Especially Skip, Shannon and the rest of them annoying as well. I don't even watch that bs anymore, arguing about rebounds, passes, late hits, just be arguing like damn fools.

He was a great basketball player and an even greater man. The more I learn about him the more I’m in awe of what he did for the civil rights movement. He will be missed.

I got no problem with retiring #6. Yes, my idol growing up was Dr. J, #6, but that also means his number will be retired, too. Everybody win except LBJ

They should do a tribute where everyone wears it for one game

Bron's #6 jersey is the only jersey worthy to be retired by the NBA.
