But Sapp is still adored in Japan, he is still one of the most popular "fighter" in Japan. But even a guy like him can knockout 99% of people on Earth. There is just no substitute for that level of size and strength. He is in his 50's now (I think), and still bench presses 500 pounds. He still weighs over 300 pounds and comes from a K-1 background.

You have to take in account that super heavy weight means that any of those shots would take a an average fighter out. Shots disturb the breathing and body shots cost stamina, which happened early in the fight.

If I remember correctly this match was historical for few reasons. #1 Sapp was due to be signed by the Ufc but due to performance issues his contract was rejected before he landed back in the states. #2. This fight launched the nutritional program or portion of the Ufc. In other words fighters had to maintain a level of physical and cardio nutrition. A video that has been pulled probably by request of Bob Sapp shows Sapp and another fighter, I believe from Japan were a double TkO due to neither fighter being able to continue after 1 round ( they collapsed from exhaustion on top of each other). However it was later determined that Sapp was suffering from a heart condition that prevented oxygen to circulate through the blood in his heart.

I feel like there's a very real end-game when it comes to super big fighters that if the fight goes on long enough it can end in a stalemate because both will be too tired to finish each other off. Even in a no holds barred scenario.

Bob Sapp is pure MMA….career wise in Japan. Kintaro was a rikishi and uprooted his life in Egypt and moved to Japan to be a sumo wrestler, and rose to Grand Sumo’s highest divisions. The fact that he is bald and no longer has a top knot (& that he’s fighting Bob Sapp) tells you he has officially retired from Sumo. If he did well enough in sumo he certainly wouldn’t be taking money fights against an old an worn out Bob Sapp. The shame is real🤣
