I remember one night in the 80's, at a local bar, the owner hired a dancer to increase business...she danced to songs from the jukebox...all the guys kept playing this song...it's soooo fast... by last call, she was exhausted...but I heard the tips were good...that's what I think of when I hear this song... From 1966 to 1992, no one recorded better 1950's "Rock-a-billy" than Bob Segar and his band. Segar was born in 1945 and listened to real "Rock n Roll' and "Rock-a-billy" as a kid and it showed in 90% of of his music, even the ballads. If you doubt me just listen to the 1958 Bobby Freeman hit "Betty Lou's Got A New Pair Of Shoes", bump up the harder edges and stronger beat and you have Bob Segar and "Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight". That's why most of us who grew up then, love Bob Segar.
