@For Truth Several people fall off their horses without breaking anything. Reeve fell on his head and broke his neck. I have fallen off a horse and had nothing more severe than a bruise. It's no different than falling off a ladder.

According to Reeves, it was his protective helmet that broke his neck. Also, his horse had an injured shoulder, but he jumped him anyway.
