This is what makes baseball so great. . .You can watch a game and still have great conversation like this. . .They saw every play, and commented on the nice defensive putouts, and still gave you that special brand of warm, funny, and yet insightful chat that is really unique to baseball. Memories of old times, great players and friends they knew and played with. . .You just can't beat it in the good ol' summertime! I'm an older fan (I watched Uecker play for the 1964 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals as a kid growing up there), and I'm all for speeding the game up, (I'd even go for a 20 second time clock), but the way baseball lends itself to a few innings of this kind of conversation is special. . .Really enjoyed listening and watching these two guys. . .Oh, how I'd love to have a few beers with them and hear those stories they couldn't tell on TV!

As a young fan of the Kansas City Athletics, I remember reading the weekly Sporting News and noticing that in 1962 the A's had a player named Ken Harrelson playing for the Binghamton club in the Class A Eastern League. He had hit 38 home runs with 138 RBI's. I was optimistic that he would be the type of slugger that would soon improve the A's prospects. He eventually played with the A's but he never had that good a season until he joined the Red Sox.
