This would have been before Bob sold the band in 1964, but not much before then, when he was was recording for Dewey Groom's Longhorn Records. "You Can't Break a Heart," sung by Joe Andrews, was recorded in March 1964 for Longhorn, and Bob describes it as a new song. George Clayborn on fiddle and vocals; Billy Jack Wills on vocals; Joe Andrews on bass and vocals; Gene Crownover on the left side with the non-pedal-steel and Maurice (Reece) Anderson on the right on pedal steel guitar; Luke Wills on rhythm guitar and vocals; Benny Johnson on piano; Bobby McBay on drums.

Great stuff, and it's from 1965 (not '55)

That's interesting. The DVD it came from said 1955. I'll check it out.

@@radiobob805 I knew Gene Crownover (steel on left) and was good friends with Maurice Anderson (steel on right). Billy Gray had his TV show in Dallas during the mid-60s, in the 50's he was bandleader for Hank Thompson. Also the instruments the band is playing were made by Fender in the 60's.

@@herbsteiner1013 Gene was with the band from 1960 to 65. Fixed. Thank you. The DVD is wrong.

Bob said "it goes without a name" -- something he heard his dad play.

@@BatesLine yes but was wondering if anyone had ever heard this on a recording somewhere or knew it’s name!!
