Interesting selection. Some appear to to be suitable for boat building.

Interesting video. Maybe he used that sawn off back saw as a scraper of his foundation wood in preparation for gluing veneer/repairing large areas of veneer.

Perhaps, maybe to cut 8 x 11 sheets of sandpaper.

The cut backsaw looks like it might be intended as a card scraper.

3/4 bit had a Morris taper on it at one time ground to fit a hand brace. The guy was a house carpenter I think not a furniture maker imho

It is funny that people don't think a brace and bit works. I have compared 1 inch brace and bit with a corded drill through pressure treated wood to do some timber framing. The brace and bit were far superior. The power heated the bit and it would jam. The brace and bit was work, but the holes were much better for pegs. And they were about as fast as each other.
@BobAmarant2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. What’s your thought on the 3/4” twist drill with the brace?
@nymblewyke2 жыл бұрын
@@BobAmarant I have a series of brace bits down to 1/4. I do medieval woodworking demonstrations with all hand tools.

Boat builders like to use slotted screws and some prefer the Yankee drill to a battery drill. It's supposed to give you a better feel for the wood.
@BobAmarant2 жыл бұрын
Thanks , you might be onto something here as he had 8 regular screwdrivers and one a slotted screw but on the Yankee driver.
