The not paying attention bite is very real, LOL😂😂 Twice in a row a few weekends ago I had the bobber drain when I was trying to light up a cigarette in the wind and rain, then set down the rod to have a leak, and as soon as I turned around and started to pee in the bushes my buddy says your bobbers down. It never fails, don't be paying attention and that's when you get bit.

If they are not spawning, they are damn close to it given how much these fish have changed color. Why target these fish? Are clients so desperate to catch fish that you have to target these salmon that are turning color and getting ready to spawn? As a 40-year Alaskan former guide, I don't understand how you harass these salmon that have moved into the rivers of their birth. If they are still in great shape, fine... But when fish change their body composition, they mainly stop eating. Yes, they will hit eggs for a number of reasons but again, why target these fish? It can't be for what you call sport, it is?

I have enjoyed most of your previous videos but fishing on spawning King Salmon is repugnant. Seriously, here in Alaska we have seen our King returns drop by 95% compared to 40 years ago. I had been a guide on the Kenai Peninsula for many years and had set several IGFA records. Here in Alaska, fishing on spawning kings is not only unethical, it is also illegal on many rivers. Please don't give your internet fans the impression that it's ok to fish on spawning fish... It is unacceptable and as bad or worse than snagging salmon. Alaska ADFG had determined that 7% of fish caught and released actually die before they spawn. How many fish do you think failed to spawn due to your trip? Come on guys... your better than this...

These fish are not spawning, we’re fishing tidewater, lowest in the river system, looking for fresh fish! These salmon have a long ways to go to get to their spawning grounds.

You are mistaken these fish are far from spawning in fact they are still flushing in and out of the bay! There has just been very little rain so some of the fish are colored up!

I agree with you,these fish aren’t spawning, but where they are fishing is closed to retention of wild fish which make up 99% of the fish in this area it was a miracle they saw one clipped fish. I don’t get why they keep it opened for catch and release when you’re right there’s going to be some fish killed. Even worse they are using bait which is really poor form for what they were doing in this video. They have to keep their KZbin channel going I guess and everyone has to keep food in their table so I see their side of it as well. I think it’s a failure more on odfw then these three guides who have a outstanding reputation in the area. Hope this fishery gets turned around in a hurry!
